Onto Innovation strives to optimize customers’ critical path of progress by making them smarter, faster and more efficient.\nJob Summary & Responsibilities\nThe Opportunity\nThis is a senior, hands-on regional leadership role for a quality professional who can connect supplier development, manufacturing engineering, NPI execution, and customer problem-solving. Based in Zhunan, you will partner with suppliers, extended factories, Field Service teams, and global engineering and operations groups to establish robust controls, resolve complex quality issues, and build scalable manufacturing capability across Taiwan and the broader Asia region.\nWhat You Will Own\nRegional supplier quality and manufacturing support\nSupport day-to-day quality and manufacturing execution at regional extended factories and key suppliers.\nEvaluate supplier processes, equipment, controls, and manufacturing capability for consistency, repeatability, and scale.\nConduct on-site process audits, technical reviews, and build-readiness assessments for product transfers into mass production.\nLead improvement initiatives that reduce defects, improve yield, and increase process robustness.\nNPD-to-NPI execution\nLead supplier and manufacturing readiness from early development through launch and high-volume production.\nDrive APQP deliverables, including PFMEA, control plans, process flow diagrams, MSA, and capability studies.\nManage PPAP submissions for new components, assemblies, and critical processes.\nPartner with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain to establish manufacturability and strong process controls before release.\nQuality engineering and structured problem-solving\nServe as the primary extended-factory customer-quality interface for regional Field Service teams on Out-of-Box Quality (OBQ) and Dead-on-Arrival (DOA) events.\nLead containment, root-cause analysis, and corrective action using 8D, 4D, or equivalent structured methods.\nSupport process qualification, validation, PFMEA, Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and continuous improvement.\nMaintain compliance with quality agreements, product specifications, customer requirements, and applicable change-control requirements.\nManage Product Change Notifications (PCNs), including risk assessment and validation for supplier-driven changes.\nSupplier performance and cross-functional leadership\nBuild trusted working relationships with local and regional suppliers, contract manufacturers, and extended factories.\nUse KPIs and scorecards to identify risk, align improvement plans, and sustain accountability for quality, delivery, and operational excellence.\nFacilitate technical reviews, supplier meetings, and quality reviews with clear ownership and closure of actions.\nProvide technical guidance on manufacturability, quality standards, process controls, and complete NPI documentation.\nCollaborate across time zones with Engineering, Operations, Service, Supply Chain, and Quality teams.\nQualifications\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.\n5-10 years of experience in high-complexity manufacturing, supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or NPI engineering.\nCombined Quality Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering experience.\nHands-on expertise in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, process capability, and structured problem-solving.\nExperience with suppliers, contract manufacturers, or extended factories in Taiwan or the Asia region.\nAbility to lead cross-functional programs, analyze data, and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.\nLean Six Sigma Green Belt and an ASQ certification.\nProfessional fluency in English for global collaboration.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nMaster's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.\nExperience in semiconductor, metrology, inspection, lithography, or capital-equipment manufacturing.\nBackground in optical systems, electromechanical systems, precision motion, or complex assemblies.\nLean Six Sigma Black Belt.\nProject-management experience or certification.\nField Service or customer-quality experience.\nExperience supporting global, multisite manufacturing teams.\nMandarin Chinese proficiency for supplier and customer collaboration in Taiwan.\nIdeal candidate profile\nYou are equally comfortable on a supplier production floor, in a cross-functional NPI review, and leading a customer-impact investigation.
