Daily tasks also include performance of specialized environmental and maintenance activities. This position ensures that assigned facilities receive timely, safe, and high-quality exterior maintenance, deep cleaning, environmental services, facility support, and specialized maintenance activities.\n\nThe Environmental Services Supervisor plans and assigns daily and project-based work, monitors completion and quality, coordinates schedules and priorities, provides hands-on support, and ensures employees have the appropriate equipment, materials, training, and resources to perform their responsibilities effectively.\n\nThe position serves as the primary operational lead for the Environmental Services team and works closely with Access: Business Solutions (A:BS) leadership, program staff, vendors, contractors, and other agency departments to address facility needs and maintain safe, functional, and well-maintained environments.\n\nThis team may work on variable schedules to complete assignments outside normal business hours. \n\nPRIMARY FUNCTIONS:\nTeam Supervision and Work Coordination\nDirectly supervise and provide day-to-day leadership to Environmental Services Specialists.\nAssign daily, weekly, seasonal, and project-based work based on facility priorities, workload, employee capabilities, and operational needs.\nDevelop and maintain work schedules to ensure required services are completed within established timelines.\nMonitor employee attendance, productivity, work quality, and adherence to established procedures.\nProvide clear direction, coaching, training, and performance feedback to assigned employees.\nConduct or assist with employee performance evaluations and development planning.\nIdentify training needs and coordinate appropriate training for equipment operation, safety, cleaning procedures, vehicle operation, and other job responsibilities.\nEnsure adequate coverage and continuity of services during employee absences, vacations, or other staffing changes.\nPromote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a strong customer-service orientation.\nAddress performance concerns promptly and escalate significant issues to leadership in accordance with agency procedures.\n\nPreventive and Routine Facility Maintenance\nCoordinate and perform preventive and routine maintenance activities\nDevelop recurring schedules for deep cleaning, exterior maintenance, seasonal services, floor care, window cleaning, and other facility-support activities.\nEnsure assigned work is completed according to established standards and facility requirements.\nMonitor the condition of buildings, grounds, equipment, furnishings, and other facility assets.\nIdentify maintenance needs that require additional resources, specialized contractors, or capital investment.\nCoordinate with A:BS leadership regarding repairs, projects, and maintenance priorities.\n\nExterior Maintenance Oversight\nPlan, perform and supervise exterior maintenance activities, including:\nPower washing buildings, fences, decks, sheds, sidewalks, and other exterior surfaces.\nDeck inspections and identification of deterioration or water-related concerns.\nDeck waterproofing and sealing.\nSeasonal exterior cleanup and facility preparation.\nEnsure pressure washers and other exterior equipment are operated safely and maintained appropriately.\nReview completed work to ensure appropriate quality, appearance, and coverage.\nIdentify exterior safety hazards and ensure corrective action is initiated.\n\nDeep Cleaning and Specialized Services\nCoordinate, perform, and inspect deep-cleaning activities, including:\nBathroom deep cleaning and grout cleaning.\nHigh dusting.\nVent and register cleaning.\nBaseboard and trim cleaning.\nWall cleaning.\nLight fixture and ceiling fan cleaning.\nInterior window cleaning.\nGround-level exterior window cleaning.\nCarpet shampooing and extraction.\nFloor stripping, waxing, and refinishing.\nJunk removal and facility cleanouts.\nEstablish appropriate work methods and sequencing for large-scale or specialized cleaning projects.\nInspect completed work and ensure deficiencies are corrected.\nEnsure proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.\n\nFacility Inspections and Safety\nConduct visual facility inspections to identify maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and environmental concerns.\nCoordinate basement inspections to identify clutter, blocked exits, combustible materials, fire hazards, water intrusion, or other unsafe conditions.\nEnsure identified hazards are documented, reported, and addressed appropriately.\nMaintain awareness of OSHA, fire safety, environmental, and agency-specific requirements applicable to assigned work.\nEnsure employees use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).\nInvestigate or document incidents, accidents, property damage, equipment failures, and other safety concerns as required.\nPromote a proactive safety culture and ensure employees follow safe work practices.\n\nMoving, Assembly, and Facility Support\nCoordinate facility moves, room reconfigurations, cleanouts, deliveries, and setup activities.\nSupervise and perform, as needed, the movement of furniture, equipment, supplies, and other materials.\nEnsure proper lifting, carrying, and material-handling practices are followed.\nCoordinate assembly of complex, non-medical equipment, furniture, shelving, and fixtures.\nEnsure employees have appropriate tools and equipment for assembly assignments.\nProvide hands-on assistance with complex, urgent, or high-priority assignments when necessary.\n\nVehicle and Trailer Operations\nSupervise the safe use of agency trucks, trailers, and other authorized vehicles.\nEnsure employees assigned to operate vehicles and trailers meet all licensing, training, and agency requirements.\nCoordinate transportation of equipment, furniture, supplies, debris, and materials.\nEnsure required vehicle and trailer inspections are completed.\nMonitor vehicle condition and report maintenance or repair needs.\nEnsure compliance with agency vehicle policies, applicable traffic laws, and safe-driving requirements.\n\nWork Order and Documentation Management\nReceive, prioritize, assign, and monitor facility service requests and work orders.\nMaintain accurate records of completed work. \nTrack recurring activities to ensure services are completed on schedule.\nDocument deficiencies, corrective actions, and outstanding facility needs.\nProvide regular status updates to A:BS leadership.\nMaintain appropriate documentation related to employee assignments, equipment use, inspections, and facility projects.\nAssist with developing workload data and reports to evaluate staffing, productivity, and service requirements.\n\nQuality Assurance and Customer Service\nEstablish and maintain quality standards for work performed by the Environmental Services team.\nConduct routine quality inspections of completed assignments.\nFollow up on deficiencies and ensure corrective action is completed.\nMaintain effective communication with program and administrative staff regarding facility needs.\nRespond professionally to service requests, concerns, and complaints.\nCoordinate with facility occupants to minimize disruption to programs and operations.\nEnsure the team provides consistent, reliable, and customer-focused facility services.\n\nEquipment, Supplies, and Inventory\nMonitor the condition and availability of cleaning, maintenance, safety, and facility-support equipment.\nEnsure tools and equipment are properly maintained, stored, and secured.\nIdentify equipment repair and replacement needs.\nMonitor inventory levels for commonly used supplies and materials.\nSubmit supply and equipment requests in accordance with agency procedures.\nEnsure employees are trained and authorized to operate assigned equipment.\n\nLeadership and Administrative Responsibilities\nServe as the primary point of contact for the day-to-day activities of the Environmental Services team.\nEstablish clear expectations for productivity, quality, safety, attendance, and customer service.\nBalance routine workload with emergency, urgent, and project-based assignments.\nAdjust staffing and priorities as facility needs change.\nAssist with development of standard operating procedures, checklists, inspection forms, and maintenance schedules.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives designed to increase efficiency, service quality, and accountability.\nPromote cross-training to ensure adequate coverage and operational continuity.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:\nKnowledge of commercial cleaning, deep cleaning, floor care, exterior maintenance, and general facility-support practices.\nKnowledge of basic building and facility maintenance principles.\nAbility to supervise, coach, and develop employees effectively.\nAbility to organize and prioritize multiple assignments and competing deadlines.\nAbility to inspect work and evaluate quality against established standards.\nAbility to identify safety hazards, maintenance deficiencies, and facility concerns.\nAbility to safely operate or oversee the operation of pressure washers, floor machines, carpet extractors, vacuums, hand tools, power tools, and other facility equipment.\nAbility to operate trucks and trailers safely, or effectively supervise employees who operate them.\nAbility to read and follow written instructions, work orders, equipment manuals, safety procedures, and other documentation.\nStrong organizational and time-management skills.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to work independently while exercising appropriate judgment regarding priorities and escalation.\nAbility to maintain accurate records and documentation.\nAbility to work effectively with employees, supervisors, vendors, contractors, and facility occupants.\n\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical, facilities management, or related education preferred.\nThree or more years of experience in facilities maintenance, environmental services, commercial cleaning, property maintenance, construction support, or a related field preferred.\nPrior supervisory or lead-worker experience preferred.\nDemonstrated experience with specialized cleaning, floor care, pressure washing, facility maintenance, or related services.\nExperience operating or supervising the operation of trucks and trailers preferred.\nValid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required for positions involving agency vehicle operation.\n\nPHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:\nThe position is physically active and requires the employee to regularly:\nAble to perform repetitive lifting and moving of items weighing up to 50 pounds and performing work that may require bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, and climbing
