Your focus will be on the shared platform infrastructure behind content experimentation, event tracking, and app-start fidelity. You will be a part of our Growth Infrastructure team, a horizontal platform team that supports Growth engineering across all of onX's verticals (Hunt, Offroad, Backcountry, Fish). This is a great opportunity to be a part of a dynamic, growing company focused on making an impact on the business, and to build infrastructure that other Growth teams rely on directly. This role will serve as a core backend contributor at onX and will report to the Growth Infrastructure Engineering Manager.\nWHAT YOU'LL DO Essential Job Duties & Functions\nBuild and maintain scalable services supporting Growth Infrastructure initiatives, including content experimentation and event tracking\nWrite unit, integration, and acceptance tests\nParticipate in architectural discussions and contribute design proposals for our services\nCollaborate effectively with other engineers, PMs, and cross-functional stakeholders (mobile, BI, marketing)\nLeverage and extend existing onX services rather than reinventing them\nProactively identify and use AI workflows that increase velocity while not degrading quality.\nParticipate in an on-call rotation to support backend services after work hours\nWHAT YOU’LL BRING\nBachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience\n5+ years of professional software development experience, primarily in API development, is required\nA shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX's Company Values\nPermanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX\nAbility to travel quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location, such as a Basecamp\nADDED BONUSES\nThough not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:\nExperience with Go or similar backend languages\nFamiliarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform\nFamiliarity with a major cloud platform (Google Cloud Platform preferred)\nExposure to A/B testing or experimentation platforms (e.g., Eppo)\nTHE ONX EXPERIENCE\nonX is a distributed company with more than 400 employees across the country. Basecamps are not physical offices; they are geographic hubs made up of remote employees who live within a 60-mile radius of the city center, creating opportunities for local connection and collaboration.\nWe have a strong preference for hiring candidates who live near one of our offices or within a Basecamp, and we prioritize candidates in these locations first. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $130,000 to $153,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description.
