Then read on…\nThe Satcom team is responsible for the design, delivery and performance of Open Cosmos’ satellite communications services, spanning the space segment, ground infrastructure and global connectivity.\nAs we continue building out our next-generation Satcom platform, we’re looking for a Senior Network Engineer to turn network architecture into resilient, high-performance transport capabilities across a dynamic LEO constellation environment.\nWhat will you be doing?\nYou will be:\nImplementing and customising advanced routing protocols including Segment Routing (SR-MPLS/SRv6) and IS-IS for highly dynamic LEO network topologies\n\nDeveloping and integrating custom on-board router platforms using specialised hardware and modern network operating systems\n\nWorking across control plane and forwarding plane integration to support high-throughput packet processing\n\nDesigning and executing large-scale network simulations and Digital Twin environments to validate network behaviour under orbital dynamics\n\nValidating high-speed forwarding performance, protocol convergence, resilience, and network stability under failure conditions\n\nSupporting seamless mobility and user terminal handover mechanisms to maintain low-latency service continuity\n\nBuilding and optimising network transport capabilities for high-throughput, distributed satellite communication systems\n\nCollaborating with architecture and platform engineering teams to align implementation with system design objectives\n\nIdentifying technical constraints, integration risks, and performance limitations to support roadmap and architectural evolution\n\nSupporting iterative prototyping, testing, and validation activities across both software and hardware networking environments\n\nWhat You’ll bring\nStrong understanding of advanced routing protocols including Segment Routing (SR-MPLS and/or SRv6) and IS-IS\n\nCapability to implement and customise routing behaviour within highly dynamic and distributed networks\n\nKnowledge of modern Network Operating Systems such as SONiC and routing platforms such as FRRouting\n\nUnderstanding of control plane and data plane architectures, including hardware forwarding integration\n\nKnowledge of high-performance networking concepts including throughput, latency, PPS performance, and hardware acceleration\n\nFamiliarity with specialised networking hardware including SoC-FPGA-based platforms\n\nProficiency in building and operating large-scale network simulation and emulation environments\n\nUnderstanding of network resilience, convergence behaviour, and stability under rapidly changing topologies\n\nKnowledge of mobility management and seamless handover strategies within distributed communication systems\n\nAwareness of how orbital dynamics influence network topology, routing behaviour, and latency across LEO systems\n\nThis role will be based in any of our locations.\nTo apply, you must have the legal right to work in your chosen location.\nWhen applying, please submit your CV in English.\nWhy Open Cosmos?\nWork at the cutting edge of space technology with customers around the globe\n\nA mission-driven company making space accessible to help solve real-world challenges\n\nA diverse, ambitious, and supportive team","description_format":"text","description_chars":3450,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Satellite Manufacturing","Earth Observation","Space Services"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-07T10:27:17Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Senior or Specialist Worker, Skilled Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Global Business Mobility: Senior or Specialist Worker;
