Then read on…\nThe Satcom team is responsible for the design, delivery and performance of Open Cosmos’ satellite communications services, spanning the space segment, ground infrastructure and global connectivity.\nWe’re now looking for a System Performance & Modelling Engineer to develop the high-fidelity simulation environments that shape and validate the performance of our LEO satellite communication systems, providing the insight needed to optimise capacity, reliability, and service delivery across the constellation.\nWhat will you be doing?\nYou will be:\nDeveloping end-to-end simulation frameworks covering link performance, constellation coverage, and network behaviour\n\nBuilding high-fidelity models to evaluate system capacity, latency, throughput, reliability, and service continuity\n\nModelling the interaction between orbital dynamics, air interface behaviour, payload performance, and network architecture\n\nSupporting stochastic performance analysis for latency, jitter, packet loss, and multi-hop communication scenarios\n\nMapping dynamic user demand against available satellite and network resources to identify optimisation opportunities\n\nSupporting system-level link budget analysis including propagation effects, power allocation, and noise cascades\n\nTracking and validating system performance margins including rain fade, interference, attenuation, and hardware ageing\n\nPerforming trade studies to evaluate architectural decisions, resource allocation strategies, and processing approaches\n\nSupporting the development and evaluation of dynamic resource management and orchestration strategies\n\nProviding analytical input into operational concepts, resilience planning, and service optimisation activities\n\nCollaborating closely with payload, network, spectrum, and air interface teams to align modelling assumptions and performance targets\n\nWhat You’ll bring\nStrong understanding of system-level modelling within satellite or advanced wireless communication systems\n\nCapability to develop and maintain end-to-end simulation environments for complex communication networks\n\nProficiency in modelling and scripting using MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C++, or similar tools\n\nKnowledge of link budget analysis including modulation, coding, propagation effects, and noise/power cascades\n\nUnderstanding of network performance metrics including latency, jitter, throughput, and packet loss\n\nFamiliarity with stochastic modelling techniques and performance analysis under varying operational conditions\n\nKnowledge of dynamic resource management, scheduling, and optimisation strategies\n\nUnderstanding of radiometric analysis including slant range attenuation and Power Flux Density (PFD) considerations\n\nAwareness of orbital dynamics and their impact on communication system performance\n\nFamiliarity with modelling and simulation tools such as STK, Visualyse, or similar platforms\n\nA highly analytical and data-driven mindset with strong attention to detail and system-level thinking\n\nThis role will be based in any of our locations.\nTo apply, you must have the legal right to work in your chosen location.\nWhen applying, please submit your CV in English.\nWhy Open Cosmos?\nWork at the cutting edge of space technology with customers around the globe\n\nA mission-driven company making space accessible to help solve real-world challenges\n\nA diverse, ambitious, and supportive team","description_format":"text","description_chars":3616,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Satellite Manufacturing","Earth Observation","Space Services"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-07T10:27:17Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Senior or Specialist Worker, Skilled Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Global Business Mobility: Senior or Specialist Worker;
