But we hire people, not seats. As the work evolves, you will move to where the hardest problems are.\nThis is a hybrid work arrangement based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and the commuting cadence varies by assignment. The initial engagement requires United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.\nYour first project\nYour first project will likely have you shaping how a federal data lake and its data stores fit together. Depending on the assignment, you may:\nDesign clean data models and schemas across the data lake and its stores: Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) with Apache Iceberg tables, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and Amazon DynamoDB.\nSet the models and schemas that new and migrated data sources land in, so the data comes together in one architecture.\nRestructure the existing data ecosystem to remove redundancy and protect the integrity and accessibility of the data.\nKeep all of it under governed access.\nYou help deliver a data architecture that brings new and existing sources together cleanly, built for a regulated environment where accuracy and auditability are not optional.\nThis is where you start, not the shape of your career here.\nRequirements\n4+ years of data architecture and data modeling experience\n4+ years of cloud data architecture on AWS, including AWS Glue, Amazon EMR, and AWS Lambda\nBachelor's degree\nSchema design across a data lake and relational stores, including S3 with Apache Iceberg tables, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and Amazon DynamoDB\nData governance and security, with Apache Ranger or comparable access controls\nData modeling tools, for example ER/Studio or IBM InfoSphere\nCommunication with technical and non-technical stakeholders\nProficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel\nPreferred\nMaster's degree in a relevant field\nHadoop or Spark\nBreadth across the data lifecycle: data engineering, data product, data science, or data management\nFederal information technology experience\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted developer tools\nWho you are\nYou see the whole data system and care how each piece fits. You model precisely, you can explain a design to an engineer or an executive, and you leave every data estate in better shape than you found it. You experiment, fail, learn, and repeat quickly.
