We work across the full lifecycle-from strategy and governance through architecture, engineering, analytics, AI, visualization, and training-for clients including the SEC, PCAOB, DDOT, and DCAA.\nOur clients describe our support as “absolutely excellent” and our people as “instrumental to organization’s success.” Winner of the United Nations COP27 Datathon, our work has earned all Exceptional CPARS ratings, SEC Chair’s Awards, the SEC Vision Award, and recognition from FDA leadership.\nWe are also built differently. Peregrine is the first and only social enterprise organized as a Benefit Corporation and SBA 8(a) company focused on AI and data for government. We believe business success should create client value, social value, and opportunity for our people.\nAs we enter our next stage of growth, we need dependable, motivated, and skilled people who have a combination of intellectual curiosity and intellectual courage. With new clients, larger programs, and expanding responsibilities, the people joining Peregrine now will have the opportunity to help shape the company we become.\nPeople first. Ownership always.\nWe solve problems through people, process, and technology-in that order. Technology matters, but people make transformation happen. That principle defines our culture. Trust and motivation are the foundational pillars of delivery on which our skills stand. We hire people we can trust, who care deeply about what they do, take ownership, learn quickly, help one another, and refuse to walk past a problem because it belongs to someone else.\nAt Peregrine, you are not joining simply to fill a position. You are joining a team, taking ownership of a mission, and helping build a company. If that excites you, we should talk.\nAt Peregrine Advisors, you will make sure the application a federal agency relies on to process its filer applications works for the people who use it, testing it end to end, by hand and in code. But we hire people, not seats. As the work evolves, you will move to where the hardest problems are.\nThis is a remote position. The initial engagement requires United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.\nYour first project\nYour first project will likely have you testing the application that carries a federal agency's filer applications from submission to decision, built in Python on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Depending on the assignment, you may:\nTest the application end to end, following each submission from intake through document processing, review, approval, and audit history, across the user interface, the application programming interfaces (APIs) behind it, and the database.\nTest user functionality by hand before each release: write test cases from requirements and user stories, work through every screen, user permission, and exception path a reviewer will meet, and report defects a developer can act on at first read.\nAutomate the checks worth repeating: build and maintain end-to-end, API, and regression suites that run in the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline on every build.\nValidate the data and the controls around it: confirm with SQL that what a user sees matches the source document and the database, and test role-based access, permissions, and integrations such as identity verification and notifications.\nYou help prove that the system works for its users from submission to decision, in a regulated federal environment where accuracy and auditability are not optional.\nThis is where you start, not the shape of your career here.\nRequirements\n4+ years of software quality assurance experience, including both manual and automated testing of web applications\nBachelor's degree\nEnd-to-end testing of web applications across the user interface, APIs, and database\nUser functionality testing, with test cases, test scenarios, and expected results written from requirements and user stories\nFunctional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT)\nTest automation in at least one framework, such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or pytest\nAPI testing of REST and JSON services with Postman or comparable tooling\nSQL for validating data in relational databases such as PostgreSQL\nTesting workflow-driven applications: assignment, review, status transitions, approvals, exceptions, and audit history\nDefect tracking and test management in Jira or comparable tools\nProficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel\nPreferred\nPython knowledge or experience, including writing automated tests in Python\nTesting document-processing or optical character recognition (OCR) systems: extracted-field accuracy, missing fields, and poor-quality scans\nTesting applications deployed on AWS, such as Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, and S3\nRunning automated suites in CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions\nSection 508 accessibility testing\nInternational Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) certification or comparable\nFederal information technology experience\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted testing tooling\nWho you are\nYou test what the user actually experiences, not only whether a screen loads. You follow a submission through every step to the decision at the end and ask whether the system read the document correctly, applied the right rule, and showed the reviewer the right information, and you know which checks belong in code and which need a person's judgment. You experiment, fail, learn, and repeat quickly. You would rather own an outcome than be handed a task.\nWhat you bring\nEnd-to-end testing craft: following a business process through every screen, service, and record it touches, and finding where it breaks.\nUser functionality testing that turns a requirement into the cases that would expose it if it were wrong, and explores past the script when something looks off.\nAutomation that earns its keep: end-to-end, API, and regression suites that run on every build and that the team trusts.\nData validation across the user interface, API responses, database records, and source documents.\nDefect reports with steps to reproduce, expected and actual results, evidence, and severity, and clear communication with developers, product owners, and client stakeholders about what they mean for the release.\nYou adapt your development workflow as AI tools evolve, using them to help implement, test, and improve the components you own. You give the tools clear context, review and test their output, and remain accountable for the code you deliver.\nWhen we talk\nBe prepared to discuss a difficult problem you worked through, the decisions you made, what happened, and what you learned.\nBenefits\nThis is a full-time W-2 position with a salary of $100,000 to $140,000 per year.\nBenefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance with the employee premium fully paid and half of dependent premiums; employer-paid life, accidental death, and short-term and long-term disability insurance; a 401(k) with an employer match of up to 4% of salary; unlimited paid time off; and sponsored professional certifications and continuing education.\nWhat we offer\nYou will work alongside developers, engineers, data scientists, architects, and strategists, on work ranging from strategy to implementation. We support your development across assignments and clients through extensive onboarding, sponsored professional certifications such as the Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) and AWS technical certifications, and rotation across functions to expand your skills and perspective. The mission is real, the problems are hard, and you own what you ship.\nWhat we commit to\nAs a Benefit Corporation, our commitment runs three ways: real, measurable value for our clients; government that works better for the public; and a team that makes everyone in it better.\nWe hire people who want to help build the firm, not just work at it. If that is you, apply.\nPeregrine Advisors is an equal opportunity employer.\nPeregrine exclusively works with OPEN Data Jobs to recruit our team. Register with OPEN Data Jobs to be considered for this and future openings.","description_format":"text","description_chars":8263,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":true,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Vision insurance"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Recruiting & Staffing","Job Boards & Aggregators"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-28T19:25:08Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":5,"reasons":["conf:2","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-29T05:49:05Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":140000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/open-data-jobs-qa-tester","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/open-data-jobs-qa-tester.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-29T14:59:25Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":22622,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-30T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":679417},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=679417"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fopen-data-jobs-qa-tester"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fopen-data-jobs-qa-tester"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fopen-data-jobs-qa-tester"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/open-data-jobs-qa-tester\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fopen-data-jobs-qa-tester"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3415955}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"opendatajobs.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3415955},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
