We're excited to have you join us for your next career adventure!\n Role & Team\nWe’re looking to hire an Data Migration Specialist to own the solutioning and problem-solving of data migrations required to move data from legacy systems into gaiia. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders, gaiia’s Migration Platform team, and clients to ensure migrations are accurate, timely, and meet required data quality standards.\nYou’ll be hands-on with data mapping, transformation, validation, cutover, and post-migration verification to ensure the new system operates with reliable, trusted data. You’ll also help drive migrations forward by working through ambiguity and identifying practical solutions when challenges arise.\nThis is a customer-facing role where you will manage the migration relationship end-to-end, guiding clients through challenges, resolving questions across teams, and developing an understanding of unfamiliar systems to propose thoughtful solutions.\nWhat You're Going to Do\nCollaborate with customers and internal teams to assess legacy data environment: structures, sources, volumes, quality, and constraints.\nOwn migration solutioning: evaluate requirements, design approaches, and propose viable paths when blockers arise.\nIndependently explore unfamiliar systems to understand source data structure in relation to gaiia’s data model and product.\nCollaborate with gaiia’s engineers on data extraction (databases, reports, flat files, APIs, etc.), and transformation approach aligned with business needs.\nTake ownership of unblocking challenges by identifying workarounds and translating business and technical issues into actionable steps.\nSupport user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure stakeholders see expected data outcomes.\nPlan and execute cutover strategy: final \"delta\" migrations, downtime considerations, and rollback plans.\nMonitor post-cutover data, resolve discrepancies, and ensure stability in production.\nProduce documentation of the migration: mapping specs, transformation rules, data anomalies, and decision logs.\nManage migration execution progress through project management tools.\nCommunicate status, risks, and issues to implementation stakeholders and clients.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nMigration blockers are identified early, and actively solved.\nPractical, effective solutions are proposed when standard approaches fall short.\nClients feel confident and supported throughout the migration process.\nDelivered data is reliable, well-understood, and validated.\nDocumentation enables repeatability and smoother future migrations.\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.\nExperience (2-5+ years) working in data migration, data implementation, ETL, or similar roles.\nHands-on exposure to end-to-end migration processes (discovery, extraction, transformation, loading, validation).\nExperience working with messy or poorly documented legacy systems.\nStrong understanding of data mapping and transformation logic; ability to interpret legacy schemas.\nComfortable exploring new systems and forming hypotheses on how data can be extracted or structured.\nStrong problem-solving mindset with a bias toward action and iteration.\nEffective communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients.\nAble to manage tasks and timelines while maintaining ownership of outcomes.\nComfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.\nNice-to-have\nStrong proficiency in SQL; comfortable writing queries, transformations, debugging data issues.\nFamiliarity with data quality, validation, cleansing techniques.\nExperience creating test plans for both pre- and post-migration validation: data integrity checks, reconciliation, spot checks, sampling)\nSalary\nAt gaiia, we have a transparent salary philosophy and a robust evaluation and compensation framework.
