Our mission is to enable OpenAI employees to do their most important work securely and with confidence, wherever they are in the world.\nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for a GSOC Operator to join our Global Security Operations Center team. In this role, you will monitor security systems, identify and respond to incidents, and provide real-time support to employees and partners around the world. You will be responsible for maintaining situational awareness, coordinating emergency communications, and ensuring accurate documentation and escalation across all security events.\nThis role is based in our San Francisco office. GSOC operates 24/7, and shift coverage-including nights, weekends, and holidays-will be required.\nIn this role, you will\nMonitor and manage access control, video surveillance, alarms, and other security technologies.\n\nCommunicate with internal partners using Slack, Jira, and other collaboration tools.\n\nIdentify, assess, and respond to security alerts and incidents; escalate appropriately.\n\nSupport emergency notifications and mass communication systems during critical situations.\n\nProvide global travel monitoring and situational awareness to help keep employees safe.\n\nMaintain detailed logs, reports, and documentation of all security events and responses.\n\nFollow established procedures and contribute to continuous improvement of playbooks and workflows.\n\nDeliver excellent service and support to employees, visitors, vendors, and partner teams.\n\nParticipate in routine training, drills, and skill development to maintain readiness.\n\nYou may be a fit for this role if you have\n5+ years of experience in GSOC, corporate security, or protective operations, or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.\n\nMilitary, law enforcement, or emergency operations center experience may substitute for traditional GSOC experience.\n\nHands-on experience with access control and VMS platforms (e.g., Genetec).\n\nProficiency with Slack, Jira, Google Workspace, and incident documentation workflows.\n\nFamiliarity with travel risk monitoring tools (e.g., International SOS) is a plus.\n\nExperience with emergency mass notification systems and/or AI-enabled security tools is helpful.\n\nStrong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to stay composed under pressure.\n\nA customer-focused mindset, with the ability to learn, adapt, and follow protocols with precision.\n\nA collaborative, resilient, and team-oriented approach.\n\nAbout OpenAI\nOpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.
