Our work has a direct impact on the success of OpenAI and, by extension, the field of AI as a whole.\nAbout the Role\nAs the 1P Systems Lab Technical Program Manager, you will bring Lab infrastructure development knowledge and TPM experience to build out industry leading lab environments which are key to developing products and bringing the hardware roadmap to life. You’ll navigate an array of technical and partnership challenges as you work to develop our existing lab locations and deliver new sites on schedule. We’re looking for people excited to push the frontiers of computing and passionate about building.\nThis role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.\nTo comply with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidates for this role may need to meet certain legal status requirements as provided in those laws and regulations.\nIn this role, you will:\nManage the end-to-end Lab strategy ensuring we have capacity and capabilities in place to successfully deliver the product roadmaps.\n\nWork cross-functionally and with external general contractors to develop and deliver new Lab facilities on schedule.\n\nLeveraging your Lab and datacenter construction technical knowledge to influence Lab design, including making trade-offs with internal and external partners.\n\nManage on-going lab availability to ensure lab facilities and capabilities are in place to support product bring-up, debug activities, and all on-going development work\n\nCoordinate and lead internal resources and communication for efficient interaction with partners and vendors.\n\nYou might thrive in this role if you:\nHave experience leading high-power Lab or Datacenter design programs as a Technical Program Manager or Engineer from site selection to completion.\n\nData center infrastructure and product knowledge (e.g. server, GPU, TPU, networking, storage), including product development (NPI) processes.\n\nKnowledge of Lab infrastructure equipment requirements to support product development.\n\nExperience taking products from concept to volume in a data center environment, ensuring the systems scale with high quality.\n\nAre eager to help design some of the world’s largest supercomputing systems, working at the edge of complex hardware challenges.\n\nEnjoy working with and enabling world-class AI Researchers and Engineers.\n\nAre passionate about the technical program function and enjoy independently owning and delivering on your teams’ goals and cutting-edge problems in AI compute.\n\nAbout OpenAI\nOpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.
