This position requires a deep understanding of networking technologies, strong architectural skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of the network environment.\nPreferred hiring location is Chicago area but this position is open to candidates in the US.\nROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES\nNetwork Architecture and Design\nPropose the design and development of enterprise network architectures, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN technologies, to meet business requirements and objectives.\nEvaluate existing network systems and architectures, identifying opportunities for improvement, optimization, and standardization to enhance reliability, scalability, and performance.\nBusiness Development, Scoping & Mentoring\nPartner with business development teams to create project plans and scoping for new business opportunities related to network projects.\nWork with internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered within budget and are successful in delivery.\nDrive project efficiency and effectiveness through coaching and mentoring; develop deployment strategies that enable continued improvement.\nNetwork Implementation and Configuration\nComplete network infrastructure integration projects as required.\nImplement and configure network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, ensuring proper setup, integration, and interoperability.\nCollaborate with system administrators and security teams to configure network security policies, access controls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.\nNetwork Performance Optimization\nWork with Tooling teams to develop monitoring metrics that proactively identify bottlenecks, congestion, and latency issues.\nProvide feedback and assist with developing standards with Enterprise Architecture to optimize network performance and user experience.\nConduct capacity planning assessments to forecast bandwidth requirements and ensure adequate capacity to support business growth.\nNetwork Security and Compliance\nImplement and enforce network security best practices including encryption, VPNs, and network segmentation to protect sensitive data and ensure regulatory compliance.\nWork with Security teams to conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests to identify and remediate weaknesses in network infrastructure.\nIncident Response and Disaster Recovery\nDevelop and maintain incident response and disaster recovery plans for network systems, ensuring timely detection, escalation, and resolution of incidents.\nCoordinate with incident response teams and service providers to restore network services in the event of outages, disruptions, or security breaches.\nDocumentation and Knowledge Management\nCreate and enforce documentation standards across the team.\nDocument network configurations, diagrams, and procedures, maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date records to support operational activities and knowledge transfer.\nProvide training and knowledge-sharing sessions to IT staff and stakeholders on network technologies, best practices, and procedures.\nVendor Management and Relationship Building\nManage vendor relationships and partnerships, including contract negotiations, SLAs, and performance reviews, to ensure alignment with organizational goals.\nCollaborate with vendors and third-party providers to evaluate and implement new networking technologies and solutions.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES\nStrong technical expertise in networking technologies and protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPNs, and DNS.\nProficiency in network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and network management tools.\nExcellent architectural and design skills, with the ability to develop scalable and resilient network architectures.\nSolid understanding of network security principles and best practices, including encryption, access controls, and security policies.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.\nProven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nCommitment to continuous learning and staying current on emerging networking technologies and industry trends.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nExperience\n7-10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on the design, implementation, and support of enterprise network infrastructure.\n3+ years of hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, including implementation, administration, and troubleshooting.\n5+ years of experience with Layer 3 networking technologies, including routing, switching, and network architecture.\n5+ years of experience working with Arista switching technologies in enterprise environments.\n1+ year of experience with Arista wireless solutions.\n2+ years of experience supporting or implementing Azure networking and cloud connectivity solutions.\nPrior experience with Fortinet firewalls and security technologies.\nExperience with Meraki wireless networking solutions.\nExposure to Extreme Networks switching technologies.\nExperience supporting Dell switching environments.\nPrevious Managed Services Provider (MSP) experience, with demonstrated success delivering network solutions across multiple client environments.\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.\nRelevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or CISSP preferred.\nCredentials\nDemonstrated experience leading network architecture projects, with a track record of delivering reliable, scalable, and secure network solutions.\nThe Compensation range for this role is 100,000 to 130,000 USD per year and may be eligible for an annual bonus.
