This role will support a key client engagement and requires strong technical packaging expertise combined with the ability to work directly with stakeholders in a client-facing environment and communicate with the wider open source python packaging community\nA core part of this position will involve building and packaging Python projects for Conda-based ecosystems, and ensuring cross-platform reliability-especially on Windows. Additionally, ensuring that python packaging systems and tools work smoothly within enterprise software environments.\nIn this position, you’ll get to\nAs a Engineer/Senior Engineer, Packaging at OpenTeams, you will:\nWork on open-source and client consulting projects focused on packaging and build systems\nBuild and package complex Python projects with compiled dependencies (C/C++, and potentially other languages depending on project needs)\nSupport packaging workflows targeting Conda ecosystems\nTroubleshoot and improve build reliability across operating systems, with a strong focus on Windows\nTroubleshoot and improve python packaging tooling within enterprise settings\nWork directly with client stakeholders onsite, translating needs into technical requirements and solutions\nMaintain and extend documentation for packaging workflows and build processes\nCollaborate with open source community, openteams engineers, learn from peers, and contribute to a culture of high-quality delivery\nDrive constructive conversations around tooling, engineering practices, and process improvements\nReview code and provide thoughtful feedback during code reviews\nCommunicate openly with upstream sources to report issues and contribute fixes\nPosition Requirements\n3+ years of professional software engineering experience\nStrong Python engineering experience, including Python packaging\nExperience packaging for PyPI, Conda, or another ecosystem\nExperience working with Windows OS in development/build environments\nFamiliarity with compiled build systems and tooling (examples include C/C++, compilers, linkers, Make/CMake/Meson/setuptools, etc.)\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing experience\nGitHub/portfolio demonstrating relevant work (packaging, build tooling, OSS contributions, etc.)\nPreferred / Nice to Have\nContributions to conda-forge\nFamiliarity with Conda\nFamiliarity with Pixi\nFamiliarity with JFrog Artifactory \nExperience with CI/CD workflows for packaging/build/test automation\nExperience supporting scientific computing, ML/AI, or performance-oriented software\nGrow With Us\nAt OpenTeams, growth isn’t just about the company-it’s about you.\nWe believe the best careers are built at the edge of your potential.
