Your role is to define the practical design details needed to build and deliver customer projects, including mechanical drawings, junction box layouts, fibre optic routing, connector details, splice plans, BOMs, and supplier documentation.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys turning conceptual designs into real, buildable designs. Experience with underwater, offshore, marine, subsea, fibre optic, or harsh-environment systems is a strong advantage.\nKey Responsibilities:\nConvert projects from conceptual or basic design into detailed design:\nTranslate our proposals to customers into detailed technical designs. Customize-to-order our product portfolio to fulfill our customers needs.\n\nCreate manufacturable 3D models, 2D drawings, assemblies, and technical specifications.\n\nDefine practical design details such as mounting, interfaces, sealing, cable entry, fibre routing, connector placement, and assembly sequence.\n\nEnsure the design can be built, inspected, tested, and delivered.\n\nDetailed design of hardware:\nDesign and detail hardware such as:\nFibre optic connection layouts\n\nCable and fibre routing\n\nSplice plans and splice tray layouts\n\nJunction boxes and connector interfaces\n\nSensor mounting concepts\n\nBrackets, housings, covers, plates, fixtures, and mechanical interfaces\n\nAssembly and installation details\n\nCreate production-ready documentation:\n3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings\n\nAssembly drawings\n\nBill of Materials\n\nSupplier drawings\n\nTechnical specifications\n\nFibre connection details and splice diagrams\n\nInspection and test requirements\n\nSupport Operations and suppliers:\nSupport procurement with technical drawings and specifications for RFQs.\n\nClarify technical details with suppliers.\n\nSupport production during assembly and testing.\n\nReview supplier feedback and improve designs where needed.\n\nHelp standardise designs to reduce cost, risk, and lead time.\n\nWhy Join Us:\nJoin one of Europe’s most promising deep-tech scale-ups\n\nCompetitive salary and benefits package\n\nEnjoy regular team activities and company events\n\nFresh team lunches provided 3 times/ week\n\nRequirements\nRequired Background:\nBachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design, or similar with 7-12 years of experience\n\nStrong mechanical design and CAD experience.\n\nExperience creating detailed drawings and BOMs.\n\nGood understanding of manufacturing, assembly, tolerances, materials, and technical documentation.\n\nAbility to work with project teams, production, suppliers, and quality.\n\nPreferred Experience\nExperience with underwater, subsea, offshore, marine, dredging, or harsh-environment equipment.\n\nExperience with junction boxes, enclosures, cable routing, connectors, sealing, strain relief, or fibre optic systems.\n\nExperience with fibre optic assemblies, splicing, routing, sensors, or instrumentation is a strong plus.\n\nSecurity & Compliance:\nYou'll be working with clients in the defense and security sectors, obtaining a Certificate of No Objection issued by the AIVD (Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service) is mandatory.
