We are looking for motivated individuals who are eager to learn, grow, and contribute to impactful projects.\nJob Summary and Essential Job Duties:\nThe Laser Metrology Technician position is responsible for completing various metrology tasks associated with the metrology equipment in the High Energy Laser & Advanced Coating Metrology labs. This includes, but is not limited to, laser damage threshold testing, photothermal common path interferometry, cavity ring down and other spectroscopy. This is an entry to middle level position for a detail oriented, technical, and organized individual.\nThrough On the Job Training (OJT), Laser Metrology Technicians will:\nComplete advanced optical testing, including test setups, precision alignment, and completing measurements\nReport metrology findings to Coating personnel \nCalibrate lab equipment as needed and maintain test hardware readiness\nGrow the Laser Metrology team by training and guiding newer technicians;\nParticipate in the development and refinement of standard operating procedures \nPerform other duties as outlined by the Coating Production and Engineering teams\nAdvancement through the Laser Metrology Technician ranks is attained via increasing levels of education, experience, industrial skills, math skills, computing skills, responsibility and leadership potential and effectiveness.\nEducation Requirements:\nA High School Diploma or GED required. Vocational training in manufacturing, carpentry, materials science, machining or similar strongly desired. \nMinimum Requirements:\nThree (3) years manufacturing and/or testing experience desired\nPrior experience in the production and/or measurement of precision optics desired\nKnowledge of cleaning and safe handling of optics is highly preferred\nOther Skills and Experience:\nKnowledge of optical materials and/or systems desired\nAbility to work effectively as part of a team\nAbility to solve problems\nPossess excellent communication skills, both oral and written\nEnthusiastic, cooperative and positive behavior\nStrong attention to detail\nWork Requirements:\nPhysical Demands:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.\nThe job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing.\nSpecific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. \nRequires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.\nWork Environment:\nThis position works in a manufacturing environment.
