They are trusted partners in work that makes a meaningful difference for children, families, and the communities we serve.\nAbout this position\nThis position supports other teaching staff by implementing curriculum and facilitating enriching classroom experiences, while ensuring a safe and caring environment for children enrolled in the organization’s Early Learning or School-age programs. The floater will substitute, as needed, in the absence of the regular teacher and/or provide additional classroom support in various locations. This role is responsible for following organization policies, providing supervision for enrolled children, and maintaining a quality program.\nPlease note: Assignments will be based on program needs. Locations may vary throughout the areas throughout the San Gabriel Valley.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nPlanning and implementing classroom activities, based on program-specific curriculum;\nPreparing and implementing an individual educational plan for each child;\nSupervising and interacting with children in a positive manner;\nDeveloping and maintaining learning centers which reflect the interests and needs of the children enrolled in the program;\nProviding a wide variety of experiences for children, with an emphasis on active learning;\nProviding a well-supervised and safe environment;\nUsing sensitivity and good judgment when interacting with children, parents and staff;\nReading, following and implementing all organization and program policies and procedures;\nEncouraging language development and respect for language diversity in classroom and community;\nFacilitating monthly site staff meetings;\nSupervising the associate teacher and assistant teacher in the classroom;\nAccomplishing other duties, as assigned, to create and maintain a quality preschool program;\nWorking effectively with other team members;\nActively participating in the annual in-service training;\nPlanning or participating in planning and implementing parents meetings and activities;\nProviding a clean and sanitary facility (inside and out) on a daily basis, according to Options center-based checklist;\nRecruiting, training and supervising parents and other volunteers;\nPromoting full enrollment and participating in recruitment of children as directed;\nAccurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation, on a timely basis, according to organization policies and procedures;\nAssisting the education supervisor as needed;\nAttending training as required;\nPerforming other duties as assigned.\nWhat you bring to the table\nChild development teacher permit;\nAssociate degree in child development, or a related field OR 24 units in child development and 16 units in general education (depending on child age group);\nThree semester units in administration, with a passing grade of “C” or better;\nCurrent certification in pediatric CPR and pediatric first aid acceptable to Community Care Licensing (Health and Safety Code 1596.866), and to be renewed every 2 years;\nHealth screening and TB clearance, to be renewed every 5 years;\nMust present proof of immunization for TDap, MMR, whooping cough, and yearly influenza (waiver may be accepted for influenza);\nMust clear live scan background screening;\nMust complete mandated reporter certification training, to be renewed every 2 years;\nAbility to communicate in written and oral English correctly and effectively;\nA California driver’s license, daily use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance (preferred);\nCommand of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin or Vietnamese (preferred).\nWhat we can offer you\nMileage reimbursement\n5% supplemental pay for being floater\nMedical/dental/vision for part- and full-time employees (organization pays up to 95% of employee's premiums; prorated for part-time);\nOrganization-paid and matching retirement plan;\nProfessional growth opportunities, including free child development courses and college reimbursement;\nGenerous and flexible PTO;\nOrganization-wide shutdown from Christmas through New Year’s Day;\nDedicated, mission-driven colleagues, and much more!\nJob specifications\nReports to the education supervisor\nNon-exempt, ten-to-twelve-month position. Depending on site assignment, winter, spring and summer breaks may occur;\nWork hours may vary from part-time to full-time.
