This is a chance to take ownership of the physical parts of our trading infrastructure across multiple data centers and thousands of servers, all the while striving for simplicity and operational excellence.\nWhat you'll do \nAs a Data Center Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our global data center environments. You will have the opportunity to combine your knowledge in IT Infrastructure in order to solve business issues and independently work on improvement opportunities. You will be working on projects of all sizes, either as a resource or leading engineer and delivering it from conception all the way to completion in this hands-on, high impact and high performance role. Specifically, your responsibilities include:\nInstalling and cabling switches, servers and appliances in our data centers and co-locations;\n\nCoordinating server and network equipment installation with smart hands in remote locations;\n\nManaging power and space allocation, including capacity planning and monitoring;\n\nMaintaining clean and consistent cable management practices;\n\nTracking and managing spare parts and cable inventory;\n\nPerforming break-fix repairs, replacing components like hard drives, memory and transceivers;\n\nPlanning and executing data center build-outs, relocations and new equipment installations;\n\nPacking, shipping, and managing the logistics of equipment for remote co-locations;\n\nMaintaining comprehensive data center documentation and support the standardization of procedures;\n\nContributing to the build and maintenance of our core office IT infrastructure, including the trading floor;\n\nTroubleshooting and testing cabling (fiber and copper) using cable testers;\n\nSupporting system builds, configuration, and troubleshooting as needed.\n\nWho you are\nTechnical Skills:\nExperience working in modern, large-scale data centers;\n\nAbility to identify basic parts of network equipment (SFPs, line cards, chassis) and servers (memory, network cards, hard drives);\n\nKnowledge of structured cabling systems (Cat 5, Cat 6, multi-mode, and single-mode fiber);\n\nFamiliarity with power and communications cabling standards;\n\nExperience with cable testers to troubleshoot both fiber and copper cabling issues;\n\nAn understanding of change control processes;\n\nBasic server operating system installation and configuration skills;\n\nStrong documentation skills and a meticulous approach to tracking details.\n\nNon-Technical Skills:\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills;\n\nCreative problem-solving mindset, bringing new ideas to improve data center operations;\n\nExperience leading or coordinating resources in infrastructure projects, from conception to completion;\n\nAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments;\n\nAbility to lift heavy objects \n\nWillingness to work flexible hours outside of regular business hours, including weekends, to execute physical infrastructure changes;\n\nWillingness to travel to support regional data center operations. \n\nWho we are\nAt Optiver, our mission is to constantly improve the market by injecting liquidity, providing accurate pricing, increasing transparency and acting as a stabilizing force no matter the market conditions.
