The mandate includes designing and implementing business processes, systems, methods and procedures that ensure accurate reconciliation, strong controls, and a high standard of quality and integrity for employer and plan member information. In addition, this position is responsible for building and maintaining reporting solutions using business intelligence tools, enabling actionable insights and informed decision-making across the organization.\nWhat you’ll do\n1. Provide expertise on business intelligence and data management standards, business process operating methods, and work procedures. Examples of key tasks include:\nBuild and prepare statistical reports and/or presentations on results, findings, and recommendations related to business process reviews and ongoing data management functions, identifying and documenting trends in data problems and passing on information and suggestions regarding improved data handling and control to the manager.\n\nProvide support to product owners by generating and presenting data in a form that assists with business decisions (trends, projections, volumes, etc.).\n\nWork with datasets by extracting, transforming, organization, and translating raw data into actionable insight, data workflow, and work-inventory management for the department to maintain service levels, productivity, and standards.\n\nAnalyze and establish internal work processes, procedures, and controls related to the entire cycle of data interface processing and reconciliation.\n\nFollow up with OPTrust staff and employers to resolve data processing and reconciliation problems, including source file issues, membership and contribution split reconciliations, problem-solving of aborted updates of the pension database, and recovery implementation.\n\nRepresent OPTrust in discussions with employers regarding OPTrust data control and integrity requirements.\n\nFollow up and assist employers in reviewing work processes and procedures related to member data.\n\nDetect and implement solutions to complex data integrity issues with employers and OPTrust business areas.\n\nDesign and deliver presentations, education, and training to employer representatives or OPTrust staff regarding data management processes, systems, and procedures.\n\nDevelop and support initiatives in achieving departmental benchmarks and goals.\n\nWork with individual smaller employers/payroll providers to improve their extract programmes to meet OPTrust’s requirements.\n\nDevelop structured testing of data received to improve business processes.\n\nDevelop audit programmes to validate the data received from employers.\n\nLead the batch data remediation processes for batch extracts, including Annual Pension Statement (APS).\n\nSupport generating remediation information for the Annual Valuation Extract (AVE) purposes to reduce remedial process time.\n\nPerform annual update and verification of system tables.\n\n2. Represent the data management group in special project work teams related to the design testing and implementation of new system applications as well as annual project deliverables. Examples of key tasks include:\nProvide business analysis from a data management perspective on projects regarding member- and employer-data-related controls and completeness and accuracy of such data; projects cover areas such as data purification, production of accurate annual pension statements to members, extraction of actuarial data, and maintenance of pension records and benefits for members on long-term disability.\n\nAnalyze data management user requirements related to new application development.\n\nParticipate in system design walkthroughs and evaluations.\n\nDevelop user acceptance test plans, including test strategy, test criteria, and test data identification, resources, and time estimates; implement and control user acceptance test projects, identifying issues with IT as needed.\n\nControl code table administration for the pension database and security requests for special project users.\n\nDesign and deliver training and support to users of the pension database and coordinate database communication updates.\n\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\n\nWhat you bring\nPost-secondary degree or diploma.\n\nAdvanced knowledge of pension plan administration and of related legislation/plan provisions, including the OPSEU Pension Plan text, the Pension Benefits Act, the Family Law Act, and federal statutes such as CPP, EI, and the Income Tax Act.\n\nApplied knowledge of business and administrative processes and systems in the financial services sector.\n\nFamiliar with extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) methods for large datasets, integrating source data to produce actionable insights.\n\nKnowledge of electronic data processing and financial system controls and methods to establish operating procedures that ensure control and integrity of data management processes.\n\nKnowledge of database systems operations and use, spreadsheet applications, and database inquiry languages and products to resolve complex data problems, redesign work processes/procedures, and provide technical assistance/guidance to junior staff.\n\nExperience using MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI).\n\nExperience with database systems operations.\n\nExperience building dashboards using Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.\n\nFamiliar with SQL and writing scripts to extract data.\n\nExperience with RPA or other automation development is highly preferred.\n\nStrong research and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex membership data problems and improve operating/control procedures and efficiency and make related recommendations.\n\nStrong organizational skills to balance workload and set priorities.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nInterpersonal and negotiation skills along with a strong client service orientation.\n\nPositive attitude towards work and colleagues to support team goals and organization values of strong teamwork, cooperation and mutual respect.\n\nHigh degree of accountability and personal leadership.\n\nExemplify OPTrust’s values: collaboration and teamwork, integrity, respect, flexibility, excellence, and continuous improvement.\n\nPlease submit your application via Workday by October 1st, 2026.\nThis posting is for an existing vacancy.\nThe range of expected compensation for this position is $104,550 - $128,763 per year.\nServing a membership as diverse as ours and investing in a global market means cultivating an environment that embraces inclusion, diversity, and equity in everything we do.
