Oracle is an American enterprise technology company founded in 1977 by Larry Ellison, Bob Miner and Ed Oates, and headquartered in Austin, Texas. It built its business on the Oracle Database, still the reference relational engine for large transactional systems, and has expanded into a full applications suite covering finance, human resources, supply chain and customer experience through Fusion Cloud and NetSuite. Its fastest growing segment is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, which the company has positioned aggressively for AI training and inference workloads through large multi-year capacity contracts.

Are you an experienced Data Centre Technician with expertise across rack and stack, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and decommissioning? Do you thrive in fast-paced, mission-critical environments, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

As an Oracle Data Centre Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and continuously improving our world-class data centre infrastructure. Acting as a technical liaison between engineering teams, vendors, stakeholders, and the data centre environment, you'll help ensure the reliability, availability, safety, and performance of critical infrastructure and cloud services.

You'll be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, maintaining, upgrading, and decommissioning data centre hardware and supporting infrastructure. You'll respond to incidents, perform preventative maintenance, maintain accurate asset and spare-parts inventory, and follow established operational procedures and safety standards.

Success in this role requires strong hands-on technical capability combined with communication, stakeholder management, planning, accountability, resilience, adaptability, customer focus, and collaboration. You'll be expected to take initiative, manage competing priorities, communicate risks early, and contribute positively to a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, test, deploy, maintain, upgrade, and decommission data centre equipment and infrastructure.

  • Perform safe and efficient rack and stack activities, server deployments, hardware installations, equipment replacements, upgrades, and decommissioning.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve server, hardware, cabling, network, power, and supporting infrastructure issues, escalating appropriately when additional expertise or support is required.

  • Triage, prioritise, and respond to incoming incidents, service requests, and operational issues in a timely manner.

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, including diagnosing hardware failures, replacing failed components, and applying firmware updates.

  • Monitor and support the reliability and performance of production server hardware and supporting data centre infrastructure.

  • Maintain accurate asset, hardware, and spare-parts inventory using internal systems and support tools.

  • Follow established SOPs, change-management processes, operational procedures, security requirements, and safety standards.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiency, risk reduction, and improved service quality.

  • Plan and organise work effectively, balancing competing priorities and high work demands while maintaining attention to detail and delivery quality.

  • Monitor progress against assigned work, proactively communicate priorities, dependencies, blockers, and risks, and take appropriate action when delivery may be impacted.

  • Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and resourcefulness, independently using available documentation, tools, systems, and technical resources to investigate and resolve problems.

  • Recognise personal capacity and technical limitations and escalate workload, risk, or complexity appropriately before service quality, safety, wellbeing, or delivery is adversely affected.

  • Build collaborative working relationships with engineering teams, vendors, customers, internal stakeholders, and other technical and non-technical teams.

  • Communicate technical information clearly and professionally, adapting communication to the audience and proactively keeping relevant stakeholders informed.

  • Work effectively within a global matrix organisation, collaborating and influencing across functions, regions, teams, and reporting lines without relying on direct authority.

  • Balance customer, commercial, operational, and organisational requirements when prioritising work and making decisions.

  • Maintain professionalism, resilience, and sound judgement when working under pressure or responding to changing operational priorities.

  • Contribute to a psychologically safe, respectful, ethical, and inclusive workplace through constructive communication and behaviour consistent with organisational values and policies.

  • Remain open to feedback, resolve disagreements constructively, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and development.

  • Adopt new technologies, processes, tools, and ways of working that improve team and operational performance.

  • Deliver timely, accurate, customer-focused, and high-quality technical support within a mission-critical data centre environment.

  • Participate in a rotating 24x7 shift roster, including on-call responsibilities.

Technical Knowledge and Experience

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Previous hands-on experience working in a Data Centre or comparable mission-critical infrastructure environment.
  • Practical experience across the hardware lifecycle, including rack and stack, deployment, configuration, testing, maintenance, upgrades, break/fix activities, component replacement, and decommissioning.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to systematically identify root causes and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Experience following documented operational procedures while exercising sound judgement when situations require investigation or escalation.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when performing physical infrastructure changes, maintaining records, handling assets, and working on production systems.
  • Background in Linux.
  • Knowledge of Data Centre Ecosystem (cooling, electrical, networking, and structured cabling).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across technical and non-technical teams. Able to influence stakeholders, communicate priorities, risks, dependencies, and technical issues proactively, and balance customer, commercial, operational, and organisational needs.

Independently investigates and solves problems using available tools, documentation, systems, and resources while understanding when escalation or additional support is appropriate.

Collaboration in a Matrix Environment

Experience working effectively within a global matrix organisation, collaborating across multiple functions, regions, teams, and reporting structures. Able to build alignment and influence outcomes through credibility, communication, and collaboration rather than direct authority.

Continuous Learning and Improvement

Demonstrates openness to feedback, coaching, continuous learning, and constructive conflict resolution. Willingly adopts new processes, tools, technologies, and ways of working and actively contributes ideas that improve operational effectiveness and support a high-performing team culture.

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable working within data centre environments, including standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and working in confined or restricted spaces.
