Oracle’s technologies support some of the world’s most sensitive workloads across healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, defense, manufacturing, and public sector environments.\nThe opportunity\nThis leader will establish and lead a new engineering organization responsible for the storage media strategy supporting OCI Storage.\nThis organization will own the physical storage platform-including media selection and strategy, vendor partnerships, qualification, validation, reliability, and next-generation technology adoption.\nThe organization will be built from scratch and will include engineering leaders across platform software, media qualification, test automation, vendor engineering, and operational support.\nThe leader will remain close to technology while operating at executive scale, partnering with storage engineering, silicon engineering, supply chain, and executive leadership to define OCI's long-term storage hardware roadmap.\n What you’ll do\nDefine OCI's Storage Hardware Strategy\nLead the long-term strategy and execution for the platforms powering OCI Storage.\nResponsibilities include:\nDefining multi-year storage hardware and media roadmaps\nEvaluating emerging storage technologies and architectures\nDriving hardware platform standardization across OCI\nBalancing performance, reliability, density, power efficiency, and total cost of ownership\nPartnering with software engineering teams to optimize hardware/software integration\nBuild and Lead a New Engineering Organization\nBuild and scale a world-class engineering organization responsible for the storage hardware.\nResponsibilities include building teams focused on:\nLow-level platform software \nFirmware integration \nStorage qualification \nTest automation \nHardware validation \nMedia reliability \nPlatform support engineering \nVendor co-design \nThis leader will hire key engineering managers and technical leaders while establishing the operating model for a new organization.\nOwn Hardware Platform Engineering\nLead the engineering of storage platforms deployed throughout OCI.\nAreas include:\nMedia and related technologies (SSD, HDD, SMR, CMR, SATA, etc.)\nStorage controllers \nPCIe infrastructure \nHardware qualification \nPlatform validation \nManufacturing readiness \nDeployment engineering \nFleet telemetry\nThe role will work closely with silicon and systems engineering teams to develop highly optimized hyperscale storage platforms.\nDrive Low-Level Platform Software\nPartner closely with hardware and silicon teams on software operating near the hardware layer.\nAreas include:\nStorage firmware integration \nHardware enablement \nPlatform diagnostics \nValidation tooling \nPerformance optimization \nCandidates should be comfortable leading organizations that bridge hardware and low-level systems software.\nLead Strategic Supplier Relationships\nOwn executive technical relationships with leading storage technology vendors \nResponsibilities include:\nTechnology roadmap alignment \nHardware qualification \nFirmware collaboration \nSupply planning \nProduct evaluations \nEscalation management \nJoint engineering initiatives\nOwn Storage Media Reliability\nEstablish engineering processes ensuring long-term reliability across OCI's global storage fleet.\nResponsibilities include:\nSSD lifecycle management \nMedia qualification \nFailure analysis \nFleet health monitoring \nReliability engineering \nPredictive failure analytics \nVendor corrective actions \nHardware quality metrics\nLead evaluation and adoption of next-generation storage technologies including:\nTLC, QLC and future NAND technologies \nEmerging storage media \nComputational storage \nDPU-enabled storage architectures \nCXL-enabled memory technologies \nNext-generation storage interconnects \nAdvanced hardware acceleration \nPartner with executive leadership to define OCI's three-to-seven-year storage platform strategy.\nWhat you’ll bring\nWe are seeking an executive who combines deep technical credibility with proven experience leading large engineering organizations in hyperscale infrastructure or enterprise storage.\nThe ideal candidate has:\n10+ years of engineering leadership experience \nExecutive leadership experience building and scaling engineering organizations \nDeep expertise in storage hardware platforms \nExperience spanning hardware, firmware, and low-level platform software \nStrong understanding of hyperscale infrastructure architectures \nExperience working directly with storage hardware suppliers \nDemonstrated success delivering hardware platforms at scale \nExperience owning hardware qualification and validation \nStrong understanding of storage media technologies \nExperience leading engineering managers and senior technical leaders\nEducation\nA bachelor’s degree is preferred for this role.
