The Hardware team is a multidisciplinary, multi-site organization consisting of electrical design, PCB layout, industrial engineering, and documentation specialists who work closely with our Embedded Systems, Product Integrity, Manufacturing, and Software Engineering teams.\nYou'll contribute throughout the entire product lifecycle-from concept and design through validation, manufacturing, and product support-while helping deliver innovative satellite, cellular, BLE, and LoRa-enabled IoT solutions for customers around the world.\nThis role is based out of our Sterling, VA office and is full-time onsite. Working onsite provides the opportunity to collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, participate in hands-on product development, and support laboratory testing and manufacturing activities.\nWhat You'll Do\nHardware Design & Development\nDesign and develop satellite, cellular, BLE, and LoRa-enabled industrial IoT products. \nSelect electronic components and develop schematics for new hardware designs. \nSupport PCB layout activities and participate in schematic and PCB design reviews. \nCreate and maintain schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering documentation within ORBCOMM's product lifecycle management system. \nProduct Validation & Testing\nPerform functional and parametric testing across industrial operating temperature ranges. \nConduct hardware debugging and root cause analysis to resolve design and manufacturing issues. \nPrepare products for regulatory and industry certifications. \nParticipate in design verification activities and support test automation initiatives. \nProduct Lifecycle Support\nSupport new product introductions by partnering with Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams. \nProvide engineering support for product installations, certification activities, and field deployments. \nCustomize standard hardware platforms to meet customer-specific requirements. \nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability. \nCollaboration & Continuous Improvement\nParticipate in design reviews and cross-functional engineering discussions. \nContribute to engineering best practices, documentation standards, and continuous process improvements. \nCollaborate with Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, Product Integrity, Manufacturing, and Industrial Design teams throughout the product development lifecycle. \nSupport innovation initiatives that improve ORBCOMM's industrial IoT product portfolio. \nWho You Are\nYou're a collaborative engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and developing innovative hardware solutions. You have a passion for product development, strong analytical skills, and enjoy working in a hands-on engineering environment.\nIf you have:\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. \n3-5 years of experience in hardware design, electrical engineering, or a similar role. \nExperience designing electronic hardware for embedded systems or industrial IoT products. \nExperience with component selection, schematic capture, and PCB design review. \nHands-on hardware bench experience including soldering, debugging, and test automation. \nProficiency using electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers. \nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. \nExcellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and time management. \nAbility to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams. \nLeverage AI-enabled tools and automation to support daily tasks and productivity. \nCommitment to continuous learning in digital and AI literacy. \nThen we want to meetyou!\nThe Benefits of Working Here\nA career with ORBCOMM offers the opportunity to grow your skills in a collaborative, innovative environment.
