We operate in a hybrid work environment, requiring a minimum of three (3) days per week onsite, with the option to work remotely for up to two (2) days per week.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nDesign, develop, and maintain embedded Linux and RTOS platforms for ORBCOMM’s proprietary products.\nLead system-level design across boot loaders, kernel, device drivers, BSPs, and user space.\nTranslate product and system requirements into scalable, high-quality technical solutions.\nOptimize Linux and RTOS systems for performance, reliability, boot time, and power consumption.\nDevelop and execute robust test strategies to ensure system stability in mission-critical deployments.\nEnhance and support build, deployment, and debugging tools.\nPerform root-cause analysis and resolve complex hardware-software integration issues.\nCollaborate cross-functionally with hardware, systems, and QA teams, providing technical leadership and mentorship.\nWho You Are:\nYou’re a technical engineer with deep embedded Linux and RTOS expertise and a passion for building reliable systems at scale. You’re comfortable owning complex problemsend-to-end and towards high-quality solutions.If you have:\nEducation & Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, ora related field (preferred).\n8+ years of experience in embedded software development, with significant focus on embedded Linux and RTOS systems.\nSkills & Competencies:\nStrong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.\nDeep experience with Embedded Linux, including:\nBootloaders (e.g., U-Boot)\nLinux kernel configuration and customization\nDevice drivers and BSP development\nYocto/Buildroot-based build systems\nExperience with ARM-based SoCs (Intel experience a plus).\nStrong knowledge of communication protocols: TCP/IP, UART/RS232, RS485, I2C, SPI, BLE.\nProven ability to read hardware schematics and debug using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG.\nExperience with version control, CI/CD, and issue tracking tools (Git, GitHub, Jira).\nExcellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.\nLeverage AI-enabled tools and automation to support daily tasks and productivity. \nCommitment to continuous learning in digital and AI literacy.\nNice to Have\nPython or shell scripting for automation and tooling.\nExperience with low-power Linux optimization and power management frameworks.\nFamiliarity with RTOS and STM32 or mixed Linux + MCU architectures.\nPrior experience working on IoT, networking, or high-availability systems.\nSolid understanding of real-time concepts and RT-Linux or RTOS integration.\nFamiliar with Cellular wireless\nThen we want to meetyou!\nThe Benefits of Working Here\nA career with ORBCOMM offers a unique opportunity to grow your skills and expand your expertise in a collaborative, innovative environment.
