In this role, you will collaborate across hardware, firmware, SaaS applications, mobile teams, Product Management, Engineering, Support, and Operations to ensure our customers have access to accurate, effective, and high-quality documentation.\nWith a flexible hybrid working schedule, you can enjoy the best of both worlds-engaging in-person collaboration while also enjoying the autonomy and comfort of remote work.\nWhat You’ll Do\nTechnical Documentation\nCreate, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including user guides, release notes, API documentation, knowledge base articles, and operational procedures.\nTranslate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate content.\nPartner closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Support, and Operations teams to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy.\nEstablish and maintain documentation standards, templates, style guides, and best practices.\nContinuously improve content quality, discoverability, consistency, and user experience.\nDocumentation Planning & Delivery\nServe as the central point of coordination for documentation requests across multiple teams and initiatives.\nAssess incoming documentation needs and determine scope, dependencies, priorities, and deliverysequencing.\nBreak down large documentation efforts into manageable work items and milestones.\nMaintain visibility into documentation commitments, progress, risks, and upcoming deliverables.\nCoordinate reviews, approvals, and feedback cycles with cross-functional stakeholders.\nEnsure documentationdeliverables remain aligned with product release schedules and business priorities.\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nFacilitate information gathering across a broad range of internal stakeholders, including hardware, firmware, software, mobile, and customer-facing teams.\nInvestigate and validate technical information through direct use of the products and systems being documented.\nGather stakeholder feedback and incorporate improvements into documentation deliverables.\nProvide guidance and knowledge transfer to team members.\nProcess & Operational Excellence\nIdentify bottlenecks, competing priorities, and resource constraints and proactively recommend solutions.\nTrack documentation work through Jira and maintain an organized, transparent, and actionable backlog.\nEstablish processes for intake, prioritization, estimation, status tracking, and reporting of documentation activities.\nDevelop lightweight workflows that improve documentation throughput and stakeholder visibility.\nCreate effort estimates for documentation initiatives and support release planning activities.\nMonitor documentation metrics and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.\nPromote a culture of documentation ownership, continuous improvement, and operational rigor.\nWho You Are\nYou’re a strategic thinker with a knack for execution excellence, ready to tackle multiple priorities with agility and grace.\nIf you have:\n8+ years of technical writing experience.\n4+ years of experience with MadCapFlare and Capture (Intermediate level or higher).\nBachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, or a related field.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.\nFamiliarity with Jira for task tracking and workflow management.\nFamiliarity with version control repositories and clients such as TortoiseSVN.\nExperience creating and maintaining technical documentation for software, SaaS platforms, hardware products, or related technologies.\nStrong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to manage multiple projects and competingpriorities with minimal supervision.\nAbility to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.\nAbility to meet multiple concurrent deadlines.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nAbility to edit and proofread work with a high degree of accuracy.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and meet demanding delivery schedules.\nLeverage AI-enabled tools and automation to support daily tasks and productivity.\nCommitment to continuous learning in digital and AI literacy.\nThen we want to meetyou!\nThe Benefits of Working Here\nA career with ORBCOMM offers a unique opportunity to grow your skills and expand your expertise in a collaborative, innovative environment.
