We are seeking aDirector of Student Success Plans to join our Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (OEDI) teamat the Oregon Department of Education (ODE).

This position follows a hybrid work model. Onsite presence will berequiredwhen business or operational needs are best supported in person, such as collaboration, training, or work that requires access to onsite resources.This position requires travel to schools as needed, with occasional out-of-state travel.A driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, a personal vehicle, or an alternative means of transportation arerequired.

Employees approved to work remotely must have a reliable and secure internet connection andmaintaina professional work environment that supports productivity. While working remotely, employees are expected tomaintainthe same level of performance, responsiveness, communication, and availability as they wouldinthe office.

What you will do!

You will provide strategic counsel to the Assistant Superintendent for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion while assuming significant day-to-day responsibilities for projects and tasks within the Office and advancing andmaintainingcross-agency, district, and community relationships. This positionis responsible forleading grant/contract activities and program/initiative teams within the Office’s purview. This will include directing and monitoring compliance with established policies, objectives, program priorities, and applicable laws/rules/regulations, as well as managing community and advisory committee engagement and providing technical assistance within and outside of the Office/agency to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements. The position will support the Assistant Superintendent in hiring teams, drafting Oregon Administrative Rules, and developing the policies and practicesneededto successfully implement initiatives within the office and across the agency.

As a result of the breadth and scope of this work, this position must understand and be able to apply and expand upon: Equity barriers and supports within pre-K-12 and higher education systems, including the historical and current impact of policies, practices, and programs on historically, traditionally, and currently underrepresented students, families, and communities; equity-centered frameworks and approaches used within Oregon; the distinction between equality and equity; individual and institutional responses to conversations about race, inequity, discrimination, and privilege; sex and gender identities; the intersection of identities and experiences across legal, social, institutional, and structural contexts; the ability to thoughtfully and confidently recognize and interrupt bias, inequitable practices, deficit-based assumptions, and barriers to equitable opportunity; the ways race, ethnicity, culture, and immigration experiences can shape interactions with institutions and systems; ethnocultural identities and experiences; effective participation as a member of an equity-focused team, including knowledge and understanding of the specific and interconnected bodies of work within the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; opportunity gaps and the conditions that contribute to them; and the recognition and appropriate use of asset-based rather than deficit-based language and discourse. Throughout this work, the position is expected to engage people of diverse identities and experiences with dignity and respect, whilemaintaininga clear focus onidentifyingand addressing historical, systemic, institutional, and contemporary inequities and inequalities affecting underrepresented students, families, and communities.

You will have the opportunity to lead cross-program innovation and collaboration, strengthen community voicesthrough advisory leadership, and shape and align Oregon’s statewide Student Success Strategy.

Typical duties include:

  • Provide leadership and facilitation for team meetings, ensuring alignment with the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (OEDI) priorities, operational needs, and strategic initiatives.

  • Coordinate efforts acrosstheStudent Success Plans (SSP) programs, ODE teams, and partners to advanceequitableeducation outcomes and program goals.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate program goals, priorities, and initiatives consistent with ODE's mission, strategic goals, legislative requirements, and applicable state and federal laws.

  • Collaborate and problem solve with agency leaders, staff, and stakeholders to address complex challenges, inform decision-making, and support effective implementation of programs and policies.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

Seven years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience;OR four years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Budget, Grant, and Resource Management: Demonstratedexperience managing budgets, grants, contracts, or large-scale initiatives, including fiscal oversight, resource allocation, analysis, and monitoring expenditures to support organizational goals.

  • Community Partnerships and Trust Building: Demonstratedexperience building andmaintainingcollaborative partnerships with communities, educational partners, agencies, and stakeholder groups to advance shared goals.
