Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill 15 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) PRAx Livestreaming Student Associate for PRAx Production at Oregon State University (OSU).

This position is responsible for operating the livestreaming equipment at PRAx, including PTZ Cameras, video switcher, audio mixer, and livestream dashboard, primarily during the Student Arts Season. Employees are responsible for ensuring the stream looks professional and is a pleasant viewing and listening experience for viewers nationwide. In this position, employees will learn how to direct a broadcast, and operate industry standard equipment. In addition, this position offers the opportunity to learn technical and communication skills that are relevant across the broadcast industry.

Position Duties:

Livestream Setup:

  • Assist with setting up cameras, connecting cables or setting up other video equipment

Livestream support during shifts may include:

  • Operating and switching cameras at direction of PRAx staff and director to get the necessary shots

  • Directing livestream to select the necessary shots and give direction to camera operator(s)

  • Ensuring livestream is successfully being sent to YouTube, including successful delivery of audio and video without issue

  • Respond to minor streaming issues or escalate concerns to PRAx staff

Post-Event Duties:

  • Put away all livestream equipment

  • Notify PRAx staff of any equipment malfunction or damage

Additional Tasks:

  • Maintain compliance with OSU policies and safety guidelines

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theOffice of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required Qualifications:

  • Timely and punctual arrival to shift

  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively

  • Is comfortable giving and receiving feedback

  • Is adaptable to a changing environment

  • Ability to follow multiple sets of simultaneous verbal direction

  • Willingness to learn and be trained on unfamiliar AV systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in livestreaming and/or broadcast

  • Experience with cameras and/or recording equipment

  • Willingness to independently research equipment and techniques

Working Conditions/Schedule:

• Hours are based on the needs of events. Therefore, the schedule is variable and there is not a set number of hours guaranteed each week.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends, depending on event needs.
  • Work is performed in theatres, studios, and other performance venues.
  • May involve standing for long periods, working in dim lighting and/or noisy environments, and working in confined and/or crowded areas.

• Possible exposure to weather or outdoor conditions.
