This position is located in Bend, OR.\nDisability Access Services (DAS) facilitates access to University programs and services for qualified students with disabilities through accommodations, education, consultation, and advocacy. DAS supports students through various transition experiences within OSU, supports students' learning, self-empowerment and ultimately graduation.\nhttps://ds.oregonstate.edu/\nAn Access Assistant (AA) is a student employee hired by DAS to assist students with disabilities to perform tasks that are a required component of their course. AAs do not do the work for the student, but they may manipulate materials, write, or complete other course-related tasks as directed by the student with a disability. AAs will only help carry out course-related procedures that the student is unable to complete due to their disability. All information about the actual course and lab processes and procedures are the student’s responsibility.\nPosition Duties\nWork one-on-one with students as a scribe or reader in class or Testing Center\nLifting and/or physical manipulation of lab materials or objects\nDescribing visual materials or surroundings\nVoicing for a student (typically, by reading from a computer screen)\nAttending field trips with student to provide access to environment\nAssist students with DAS accommodations in the classroom.Proctor exams and complete admin work for our testing center.\nTransferable Skill Development\nOSU is committed to ensuring students are prepared for success after graduation through intentional skill development as student employees.
