Job Description:
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Access Student Assistant for the Disability Access Services for Disability Access Services at Oregon State University (OSU).
An Access Assistant (AA) is a student employee hired by DAS to assist a student with disabilities to perform tasks that are a required component of the course. AAs will only help conduct course-related procedures that the student is unable to complete due to their disability. Fill this from PD & personalize if necessary (AA).
Position Duties:
AAs, under the direction of the DAS student, may assist with the manipulation of lab materials and with the completion of in-class assignments. AAs may also assist the student with navigating the classroom/lab environment. AA will also take notes for the student when needed. All information about the actual course and lab processes and procedures are the student’s responsibility.

Qualifications:

- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Required Qualifications:
- Excellent clear communication skills.
- Availability to work during the time requested.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with individuals who are low vision/Blind or individuals with limited fine motor skills.
- Intermediate Spanish.
