This role supports the production of high-quality cannabis-derived ingredients by operating and maintaining specialized processing equipment, executing production batches, completing detailed documentation, and ensuring adherence to Good Production Practices (GPP), Health Canada regulations, quality standards, and health and safety requirements. The Distillation Technician plays a key role in maximizing yield, efficiency, and product quality while maintaining accurate inventory control, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and contributing to team performance and production goals.\n\nResponsibilities:\nHandling large volumes of winterized crude and distillate.\nOperation and preventative maintenance on state of the art distillation equipment\nOperation and preventative maintenance on decarboxylation equipment\nEnsure timely batch record completion with high accuracy\nAdhere to all SOPs for the operation, QA and HSE.\nPerform sanitation activities as per GPP requirements\nPerform distillation tasks as assigned by manager in accordance to relevant SOPs\nEnsure 100% compliance with QA requirements during day­to-day activities\nIdentify improvement opportunities and report issues in order to maximize efficiency, quality and yield while ensuring safety and reliability\nSample preparation for all required analytical testing\nKeep accurate inventory control on processing material and lab supplies and notify leadership of order replenishment.\nActive participation in leading KPI discussion and achieve daily KPI production goals and indicate limitations in processes.\nLead submissions on weekly inventory counts and participate in monthly inventory reconciliation.\nTrain & Signoff all new employees or contractors as required.\nDetailed record keeping of batch data per Health Canada regulations\nOther duties as assigned\n\nQualifications\nB.Sc in Chemistry or related disciplines, B.Eng in Chemical Engineering or Chemical Technology Diploma required\n1+ years laboratory, production/manufacturing, or pharmaceutical experience\nBasic distillation knowledge acquired through academic schooling or experience\nExperience within Cannabis industry is preferred\nAttention to detail and commitment to safety while operating process equipment\nPositive attitude with strong communication skills\nStrong time management skills including ability to multi-task and prioritize\nShows initiative and ownership of work and willingness to learn\nStrong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word\nPhysically fit; standing and/or sitting will be required for long periods of time and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs\nRequired to pass a criminal background check\nMust be able to work various shift schedules as required\nMust be able to wear all PPE as required (mask, safety glasses, gloves etc)\n\nSCHEDULE\n“Half Continental” rotating shift schedule (Days): 4 days one week, 3 days the following week\nSunday through to Saturday (7-day operation). Hours are 7:30am – 8:00pm (12.5 hours)\nBreaks are to be broken up based on team needs and discussed with Supervisor/Manager.
