Founded in 1921, Terumo Corporation (TSE:4543) strives to fulfil its mission of “Contributing to Society through Healthcare” by providing a comprehensive range of solutions in the fields of therapeutic procedures, hospital operations, and life sciences in more than 160 countries and regions.\nPosition Summary\nThe Principal Electronics Engineer will be the technical lead for electronics design across current and next-generation OrganOx products, ensuring designs meet stringent medical device standards. This role will combine hands-on design, technical leadership, and mentoring of junior engineers, with responsibility for delivering robust, compliant, and innovative electronic solutions.\nThis is an on-site role in Oxford with flexibility, enabling close collaboration with cross-functional engineering, quality, and regulatory teams.\nMajor Responsibilities\nUnder direction from the Director, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, the Principal Electronics Engineer will be responsible for:\nLeading the design, development, and verification of electronic systems for Class III medical devices.\nDefining electronic architecture and component selection to meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements (IEC 60601, IEC 62304, ISO 14971).\nReviewing and approving schematics, PCB layouts, and technical documentation.\nSupporting system-level architecture decisions, particularly in relation to embedded hardware/software integration.\nConducting and overseeing design verification and validation activities, including EMC testing, safety testing, and reliability analysis.\nActing as a subject matter expert in design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for testability (DFT).\nWorking closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure quality and compliance of electronic assemblies.\nMentoring and supporting the growth of junior electronics engineers.\nAdhering to the letter and spirit of OrganOx’s Code of Conduct and all other company policies.\nRequirements\nSkills & Experience\nSignificant relevant electronics engineering experience, preferably in medical devices or other regulated industries.\nExtensive experience in electronics design for safety-critical or regulated products (medical device experience strongly preferred).\nStrong background in both analogue and digital circuit design.\nProven track record of designing to IEC 60601 and other relevant safety standards.\nExperience with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer) and version control systems.\nKnowledge of power electronics, motor control, and communication protocols (CAN, RS485, Ethernet).\nExperience in EMC/EMI mitigation techniques and testing.\nAbility to work in a cross-functional environment and lead technical discussions.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related discipline.\nAbility to travel up to 10% internationally.\nBenefits\nAt OrganOx, we value innovation, evidence, integrity, teamwork, respect, and passion.
