Through laser-based wireless power transmission, we aim to overcome the energy limitations of today’s satellites and enable longer, more capable, and more resilient operations in orbit.\nAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to the development of mechanical hardware for ORiS’ laser-based Wireless Power Transmission space payloads, supporting technologies such as high-power laser sources, precision pointing and integrated thermal management.\nWorking closely with the Lead Mechanical Engineer and a multidisciplinary team, you will take technical ownership of assigned flight hardware from design and structural analysis through manufacturing, integration and environmental testing.\nThis is a hands-on role for an engineer with strong experience in space hardware mechanical design, structural analysis and flight hardware development.\nWhat You Will Do\nDesign and develop payload structures, assemblies and mechanical interfaces from concept through qualification.\nPerform and review structural analyses including static, modal, sine and random vibration, using hand calculations and FEA.\nDevelop and release flight hardware using 3D CAD, engineering drawings, GD&T and tolerance analysis, managing design data, BOMs and revisions through PDM/PLM systems.\nImplement and maintain mechanical requirements and interfaces for assigned hardware, working with Systems, Thermal, Optical and Electronics teams.\nPlan and execute mechanical environmental test and AIT activities, including vibration testing, support thermal-vacuum campaigns, and correlate analytical models with test results.\nSupport mechanical design reviews and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers.\nMaintain engineering documentation, configuration and design changes in accordance with ORiS' Quality Management System and applicable ISO 9001 requirements.\nWhat We Are Looking For\nBSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.\n5+ years of experience in spacecraft, satellite payload or aerospace mechanical engineering.\nDemonstrated experience taking hardware from design through manufacturing, integration and environmental testing.\nStrong experience in structural analysis and FEA, including static, modal and random vibration analysis.\nProficiency with professional CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA or NX) and FEA tools (e.g. ANSYS Mechanical, Altair HyperWorks/OptiStruct, FEMAP/NASTRAN or equivalent), with familiarity with PDM/PLM systems and controlled engineering release workflows.\nStrong knowledge of mechanical design, materials, manufacturing processes, GD&T and tolerance analysis.\nKnowledge of space hardware mechanical verification, environmental testing and ECSS standards.\nProfessional proficiency in English.\nNice to Have\nExperience with optical or laser payloads, precision mechanisms or pointing systems.\nExperience with thermo-elastic analysis and dimensional stability of precision structures.\nExperience with FEM model correlation, vibration/modal testing or shock analysis.\nPrevious experience in a NewSpace or fast-paced aerospace environment.\nOur Offer\n·Salary Range: €50,000 -
