And behind every great technology, there’s great organization.\nWe're looking for an Electric Motor Tech Lead to help develop the next generation of propulsion motors for our UAV platforms.\nThis role combines hands-on electric motor design with system-level understanding of propulsion performance, testing, and manufacturability. You'll serve as Orqa's internal expert for electric motors, helping define motor architectures, optimize performance, validate designs, and prepare products for mass production.\nWorking closely with hardware, embedded, mechanical, manufacturing, and flight-test teams, you'll play a key role in shaping the propulsion technologies behind our future platforms.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nLead the design, development, testing, and validation of BLDC motors for UAV propulsion systems\n\nDefine motor architectures and requirements related to efficiency, torque, RPM, thermal performance, weight, reliability, and manufacturability\n\nOptimize motor designs, including stator and rotor configurations, winding strategies, magnets, cooling, and mechanical integration\n\nPerform motor-propeller matching and propulsion performance optimization\n\nDevelop and execute motor testing and validation plans\n\nAnalyze test data, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous design improvements\n\nCollaborate with embedded, power electronics, mechanical, manufacturing, and flight-test teams\n\nSupport production readiness, design-for-manufacturing activities, and quality requirements\n\nMentor engineers and help build Orqa's electric motor development capabilities\n\nWHAT WE EXPECT\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field\n\nStrong experience designing, testing, and validating BLDC or permanent magnet electric motors\n\nDeep understanding of electric motor fundamentals, performance characteristics, and efficiency optimization\n\nHands-on experience with motor testing, instrumentation, and performance characterization\n\nUnderstanding of electric propulsion systems and system-level trade-offs\n\nExperience leading technical projects and collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams\n\nStrong analytical thinking, troubleshooting skills, and technical communication\n\nNICE TO HAVE\nExperience with UAV, aerospace, robotics, defense, automotive, or electric mobility applications\n\nExperience with motor simulation and design tools such as Motor-CAD, Ansys Maxwell, JMAG, RMxprt, FEMM, or similar\n\nExperience with thermal, vibration, structural, or rotor-dynamics analysis\n\nKnowledge of ESCs, motor control strategies, and propulsion system integration\n\nExperience with lightweight, high-efficiency motor design\n\nExperience preparing products for manufacturing and production scaling\n\nExperience building or leading engineering teams\n\nWHY YOU’LL LOVE IT HERE\nOur office is a drone testing playground, and every day starts with an idea no one has tried before.
