You’ll ensure consistency in architecture, code quality and security across our full-stack platforms, including backend services and Salesforce components.\nThe role reports into the Principal Engineer and will partner closely with Product Owners, Cloud Architects and Delivery Leads to ensure solutions are robust, scalable and ready for regulatory and customer-facing releases.\nThe role can be based from our Wolverhampton, Chatham or London office and will require occasional travel between all OSB Group locations.\nWhat you will be doing?\nThe Lead Engineer - Backend will provide hands-on engineering leadership across squads, ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable and high-quality technology solutions. Acting as the technical authority across full-stack and Salesforce platforms, the role will drive engineering excellence, solution integrity and consistent delivery standards across both change and run activities.\nWorking closely with Product Owners, Architects, Delivery Leads and engineering teams across the UK and India, the Lead Engineer will serve as the key technical bridge between locations, enabling effective collaboration within a distributed Agile environment.\nThe role will also play a critical part in mentoring and developing engineering talent, helping to establish long-term technical capability and supporting the successful delivery of customer and regulatory commitments.\nKey Responsibilities\nProvide hands-on technical leadership across multiple Savings squads, driving engineering excellence, solution quality, architectural consistency and secure software delivery across full-stack and Salesforce platforms\nLead the design, development and optimisation of scalable, resilient and high-performing applications, ensuring solutions meet business, customer and regulatory requirements\nEstablish and promote engineering best practices, including code quality, Test-Driven Development (TDD), automated testing, integration testing, CI/CD and secure software development throughout the delivery lifecycle\nCollaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects and Delivery Leads, translating business requirements into robust technical solutions while supporting successful delivery across UK and India-based teams\nMentor and develop engineers across the function, fostering technical capability, supporting career development and building a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and engineering excellence\nWhat's in it for you?\nWe offer a base salary depending on experience ranging from £65,000 - £75,000 per annum and a competitive benefits package including:\nAnnual discretionary bonus opportunity\n30 days annual leave\nChoose to contribute 3% or 5% pension, with employer contributions of 6% or 8% respectively\nEnhanced family-focused benefits\nHybrid-working \nPlease use this link to see the fantastic benefits available at OSB: OSB Careers\nAbout us\nAt OSB Group, we understand how much our people bring to our organisation, which is why we try our best to give back too!
