Primary responsibilities will include serving as a design engineer on bridge projects and other miscellaneous structural projects. Typical bridge projects include steel beam/girder, pre-stressed concrete, concrete slabs, and earth filled arches for various clients including the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), Counties, Municipalities, and private owners. This position will report to the Manager of Transportation Engineering and will work closely with the Director of Municipal and Transportation Engineering, other Transportation Project Managers, and senior engineers to ensure the growth and mentorship of our team members.\nFounded in 1892 with a specialization in roads and bridges, Osborn is one of the oldest and most respected engineering firms in the country. Osborn’s strength lies with its people.\nPosition Responsibilities\nActive team member performing designs for various types of bridge improvement projects throughout the State of Ohio.\nPrepare preliminary and detailed design plans, quantities, specifications, and probable construction cost estimates.\nPerform critical thinking in development, evaluation, selection, and modification of standards engineering techniques and procedures.\nMay have occasional client and/or sub-consultant contact regarding current design projects.\nMay require periodic field construction observation and responding to Request for Information during construction phase.\nJob Requirements/Qualifications\nBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with 10+ years of experience in bridge design and inspection\nDesign and detailing experience per ODOT Bridge Standards\nExperience with MicroStation, Geopak, AutoCAD Civil 3D w/Ohio State Kit\nSkilled in structural analysis programs and bridge design software\nFamiliarity with the American Association of Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Bridge Design Specifications is desired\nProficiency with Microsoft Office\nContinuous education and training on the job is required.\nOsborn is looking for a candidate who has the following characteristics:\nReliable\nTeam Player\nSelf - Starter\nPositive Attitude\nStrong Work Ethic\nCritical Thinker\nDetail Oriented\nInnovative\nGood Communicator\nEEO\nNOTE TO RECRUITERS: Osborn Engineering does not currently accept unsolicited resumes through or from search firms or recruiters.
