We pride ourselves in being leaders in precast concrete innovation, building more resilient, energy efficient, sustainable, safe and durable structures.\nJob Summary\nThis position is responsible for reviewing and understanding plans and specifications, and ensuring completed work meets the stated requirements. Located at the Woodstock plant, this is a position that requires diligent compliance with safety regulations.\nAs the Quality Control Specialist, the ideal candidate must be able to read and interpret shop drawings, be detailed, and focus on the task at hand while managing priorities and deadlines. In general, this is a position where guidelines, structure, and established procedures must be followed closely.\nIn addition to the standard Quality Inspector position, the Quality Control Specialist must have the ability to interpret complex structural drawings and have experience understanding and measuring the setup and reinforcement required for complex concrete products.\nResponsibilities\nInterpretation of complex engineering drawings: unit drawing, sections, layouts, elevations\n\nInspection and measurement of intricate formwork, reinforcement, and special hardware\n\nDirect communication with Engineering to review drawing issues causing setup complications\n\nInspection of intricate hardware with special welding requirements\n\nCasting, testing and inspection of precast concrete structures for bridge girders, wall panels and parking garage components, according to building codes, drawings and specifications\n\nMonitor the manufacturing process for quality and compliance with design and specification requirements\n\nInspect completed concrete product components to ensure the quality meets engineering design and project requirements\n\nMonitor and perform all concrete tests at plant and on site, as required\n\nComplete lab testing and calibration requirements\n\nCollect and test raw materials\n\nNote and report work that does not meet design requirements\n\nCreate and complete project reports; pre-pour, post-pour, stressing reports, NCR reports\n\nControl and maintain project records including engineering drawings, project reports and material test reports\n\nProactively suggest improvements to current processes\n\nImplement approved corrective actions when required\n\nWork together with Engineering and Drafting departments to review project and design requirements\n\nCommunicate effectively with all departments including internal and external customers\n\nWork safely as per company and provincial standards and report any unsafe work\n\nTechnical Requirements\nCivil / Engineering diploma, or related field\n\nExperience in pre-stressed precast, complex wood and steel forming, CWB welding\n\nQuality Inspector experience in precast concrete materials\n\nAbility to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and setup requirements\n\nDemonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with specialized design and drafting software tools including Auto CAD, 3D modelling, experience with Tekla a definite asset\n\nACI/PCI certifications an asset or willingness to pursue certifications\n\nBusiness Requirements\nDetailed communication with Engineering\n\nTeam oriented\n\nHigh attention to detail\n\nDesire to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, customer-focused environment\n\nBe aware of and comply with all relevant safety policy and procedures\n\nCultural Requirements\nAbility to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills\n\nSalary: $55,000 - $65,000\nAs a member of the OSCO Construction Group, PreCon offers a comprehensive compensation package including health and dental coverage, life insurance, RRSP and tax-free savings account options.
