Our engineering and product innovation help keep soldiers and firefighters safe, is critical in building and keeping communities clean and helps people do their jobs every day.\nTHE ROLE\nYou will play a key role by assisting Engineers with multiple tasks involving the mechanical engineering functions in the Design or Research & Development teams. Through this position, you will help to develop component and system designs, determine failure trends, perform failure analysis, or support vehicle component and performance testing.\nYOUR IMPACT\nAs a Mechanical Engineering Intern your experience may include:\nPrepare vehicle component layouts using CATIA, CREO, or other CAD software\nSelect components for quality conscious design (weight, cost, reliability, ease of manufacturing, etc.)\nFollow design projects on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build, and provide technical assistance\nGenerate engineering calculations for weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.\nConsult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to issues\nParticipate on supplier conversations and track action items like problem root cause identification\nPerform or assist in the testing of vehicles or vehicle components\nDevelop and utilize mathematical reliability models\nAnalyze field warranty data and prototype test data for failure trends\nIf working in the Research & Development area, some responsibilities may include:\nEstablish requirements for testing of vehicles and associated components\nCreate test plans, recommend resources of equipment necessary to accomplish the test, and formulate test project estimates\nConceive necessary fixtures and test apparatus and supervise their construction and implementation\nCoordinate, supervise, and monitor testing, including data collection and analysis\nRecommend corrective actions needed to maintain schedule and cost targets\nCommunicate status and results of tests to internal departments, suppliers, and customers\nMINIMUM QUALIFICAITONS\nInterest in Fluid Power (hydraulics and/or pneumatics)\nStudent working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field\nWilling to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, WI for the duration of the summer 2027 internship. Summer housing is available to interns whose permanent address is greater than 50 miles from their work location\nPay Range:\n$18.00 - $37.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
