This role is responsible for developing and releasing product enhancements, resolving complex engineering and production issues, and driving process improvements that support product quality, reliability, and business continuity. The Project Engineer performs high-level engineering analysis, design and redesign, validation, and troubleshooting of complex components and systems for heavy-duty machinery while supporting the integration and execution of machinery and component designs. This individual makes critical technical decisions, manages multiple engineering priorities and projects, and provides technical mentorship and direction to engineers while fostering innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nYOUR IMPACT: \nManage an engineering team consisting of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.\nPlans, directs, and coordinates activities of their engineering team.\nProvide coaching and development for their team through regular performance feedback, technical and professional training opportunities, and creation of individual development plans for team members.\nPrepare and control department budget, forecast operating costs of department, and direct preparation of budget requests.\nMay have some level of P&L responsibility.\nUnderstand market share and P&L for their product line - business acumen.\nCollaborate and build relationships with internal and external customers, across segments and functions.\nAbility to present and defend technical engineering decisions to Engineering leadership, Oshkosh leadership, and external customers.\nResponsible for completion of a project or part of a project of moderate complexity on time.\nMay be responsible for overall project schedule and budget.\nMay be responsible for managing multiple priorities.\nPerforms more complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.\nResponsible for preparation and delivery of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.\nCollaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.\nMay have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations.\nProvide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers working on common projects.\nResearch, create, and update standard engineering methodology and procedures - best practices, etc.\nParticipate in the budgeting process to include recommending capital improvements and preparing justification data as required.\nMaintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.\nCommunicate project objectives to team members.\nEnforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.\nEvaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.\nCreate and maintain project documentation for analysis, research, and historical records.\nPerform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.\nProvide complex technical assistance for production support.\nAnalyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.\nProvide mentorship to team members to ensure the appropriate engineering analysis is performed and documented.\nPrepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.\nOther duties as assigned.\nRegular attendance is required.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nAccredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and five (5) or more years of related experience.\nSTANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:\nAccredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.\nStrong mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems.\nExperience with a high level CAD system.\nPay Range:\n$82,900.00 - $134,300.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
