The candidate will work within advanced engineering groups and a cross-functional team to develop and execute the data analytics strategy and apply to Oshkosh products. Data analytics work encompasses the acquisition, processing and machine learning of engineering or service data and application to preventive maintenance and intelligent control of on or off-road vehicles.\nYOUR IMPACT: \nPerform data science or analytics assignments, investigations, and visualization tasks. \nDeliver results according to Oshkosh and general industry engineering standards and processes.\nSupport (Sr.) data analyst/scientist in the preparation of analytics work, plans, designs, data processing and visualization, and/or reporting.\nUnder close supervision, work on projects of high level of complexity. \nWork in collaboration with data science team, data engineering, software, and other internal engineering groups or business support disciplines as well as external component suppliers.\nCollaborate with other team members in Oshkosh to establish and execute the data analytics strategy regarding telematics, cloud hosting, data file system and preprocessing and engineering applications.\nWork on the technical aspects of advanced diagnostics and prognostics and support the validation and verification of the intelligent preventive maintenance strategy using statistics and machine learning techniques. \nConduct independent research on new technologies in cloud-based data analytics and establish requirements (resources, equipment, estimates, test plans, and milestones) and roadmap according to the needs of a project under the guidance of the supervisor. \nConduct data processing and data analytics on Hadoop Distributed File Systems (HDFS) for different vehicle platforms based on internal or external customer requests.\nResponsible for manipulating high-volume, high-dimensionality data in cloud or on-premises from varying sources to highlight patterns, anomalies, relationships and trends with machine learning techniques using modeling tools (such as JMP, SAS, or Anaconda, Dataiku or alike). \nSupport or lead the development of intelligent control of on or off-road vehicle or machineries using data analytics techniques.\nAssist or direct feasibility studies and project estimates (manpower, budget development, and timelines, etc.) on proposed research and development projects. \nSupport or direct proposal development with regards to acquiring appropriate funding for various advanced data analytics and control systems program from government agencies.\nProvide insight to service or engineering design teams and support maintenance enhancement and product design improvement.\nOther duties as assigned.\nRegular attendance is required.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nAccredited Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science or related field with five (5) or more years of related experience.\nSTANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor's degree in computer science, data science or a related field and 8-plus years related experience or Master’s degree in data science and five (5) or more years of related experience or Ph.D. degree in data science with 2 years of related experience.\nWork experiences on statistics, artificial intelligence, data analytics or machine learning.\nWork knowledge of telematics interfaces, data file systems (Hadoop) and data processing techniques (Kafka, Impala, or Map Reduce, etc.), database (SQL or NoSQL), data modeling and data virtualization tools in Python, R or Java/C/C++.\nCORE COMPETENCIES:\n Internal Contacts: Contact with peers and others involving explanation of information (these contacts may be within or outside department or division), and the gathering of factual information; may include the communication of sensitive or confidential information.\nExternal Contacts: Limited external contact to gather information, answer queries, or ask assistance.\nCommunication Skills: Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; Read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; Write routine reports, correspondence and speak effectively before both internal and external groups; Read, analyze and interpret business manuals, technical procedures and/or government regulations: Read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.\nDecision-Making: Regularly makes significant decisions and final results, typically affecting the entire department.
