This role supports both residential and commercial customers while helping maintain and expand our network infrastructure.\nThe ideal candidate is technically skilled, customer-focused, safety-conscious, and eager to grow within an award-winning organization that values teamwork, innovation, and community involvement.\nTitle: Maintenance & Communications Technician\nLocation: Office located in Hagerstown, MD\nFull-Time/Part Time: Full-Time\nSchedule: Sunday-Thursday with on-call rotation\nRate: $24 - $28/hr. (based on experience)\nOn-call and overtime pay as applicable\nPrimary Responsibilities Include:\nInstall, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair broadband, CATV, and fiber-optic systems.\nPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on the BB/CATV and HFC plant.\nTroubleshoot system outages and individual customer service issues.\nInstall and maintain fiber drops, interior fiber wiring, ONTs, and customer equipment.\nPerform fiber splicing (fusion and ribbon) for new construction, maintenance, restoration, and customer activation (aerial and underground).\nConduct forward and return path testing, system balancing, and power supply maintenance.\nSupport service technicians and assist with escalated technical issues.\nAssist with new construction projects including fiber placement, terminal installation, and cutover activities.\nEducate customers on installed services and equipment usage and recommend service upgrades when appropriate.\nMaintain company vehicles, tools, and inventory in a clean and operational condition.\nAccurately locate and mark underground services using prints, test equipment, and mapping software.\nEnsure compliance with all OSHA, FCC, NEC, and local regulations.\nMaintain a professional image through appearance, demeanor, safe driving habits, and customer interactions.\nParticipate in an on-call rotation and work outdoors in all weather conditions.\nPerform additional duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.\nValid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.\n 3-5+ years of experience in broadband, CATV, fiber optics, telecommunications, or a related technical field.\nAdvanced knowledge of:\nRF and IP technologies\nHFC design\nDOCSIS (DOCSIS 3.1 experience preferred)\nVideo networking and IP-based services\nExperience with optical and test equipment, including:\nOTDR\nOptical Power Meter\nOptical Spectrum Analyzer\nFiber Identifier and Fiber Scope\nHands-on experience with fiber splicing, fiber terminals, and distribution systems.\nStrong understanding of electronics, DC power, RF, and fiber optic systems.\nAbility to configure and support customer networking equipment, including Wi-Fi routers and TCP/IP.\nStrong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and diagnostic software.\nAbility to work independently, plan work efficiently, and meet deadlines.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to differentiate wire and cable sizes/colors and work in tight or confined spaces.\nPhysically capable of lifting up to 75 pounds and performing tasks requiring bending, climbing, kneeling, and working at heights.\nComfortable working outdoors, in attics, crawl spaces, and other challenging environments.\nWorking Conditions:\nFrequent outdoor work in all weather conditions.\nExposure to dust, dirt, noise, heat, insects, and uneven terrain.\nOn-call rotation approximately every 5 weeks.\nSchedule adjustments may occur based on business needs.\nWhy Join Antietam Broadband?\nWhen you join Antietam Broadband, you’ll be part of an award-winning company and team.
