The role will initially be focused on the review and approval of payments, vendor and documentation setup, and research supporting decisions on accounting policy, systems, and process design. It is expected to evolve into a more traditional general ledger accounting role as OCNA scales. Serves as the primary point of contact for and provides oversight of a third-party finance as a service (FaaS) provider, reviewing its work for accuracy and completeness. Operates with minimal supervision, takes on new and loosely defined projects with limited direction, and contributes substantially to the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the general ledger, financial statements, and reports.\nThis position sits within the shared corporate back-office accounting team that supports both Otsuka ICU Medical (OIM) and OCNA. The incumbent reports to the Controller within that shared organization and operates under common accounting policies, systems, and close calendars, while serving as the dedicated accounting resource for OCNA. The role is expected to balance the priorities of both entities, apply consistent standards across them, and support intercompany and shared-service activity between OIM and OCNA.\nEssential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSupport Controller and OCNA senior leadership with start-up projects and workflow process improvements\nServe as the day-to-day liaison for the third-party finance as a service (FaaS) provider; review its transaction coding, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness\nReview, approve, and document payments and disbursements in accordance with Company policy and delegation of authority\nPerform research on accounting, tax, systems, and process questions, and present clear written findings and recommendations\nAssist with SAP implementation efforts, including system configuration input, master data setup, testing, and cutover support\nApply the shared corporate accounting policies, systems, and close calendars consistently across OIM and OCNA\nSupport intercompany transactions, cost allocations, and shared-service charges between OIM and OCNA\nEnsure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close, assuming increasing ownership of general ledger activities - journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations - as OCNA matures\nAssist in the daily operational requirements\nEnsure that compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner\nCollaborate with business and finance managers to support overall company goals\nMonitor and analyze accounting processes and third-party service provider performance to develop more efficient procedures\nRespond to inquiries from the Controller, OCNA senior leadership, and other managers\nAssist in the development and implementation of new procedures and systems\nPerform and review monthly journal entries, account and vendor reconciliations\nCoordinate with the third-party payroll provider and review payroll processing for accuracy\nOversee and review invoice processing, coding and payment of corporate liabilities\nPrioritize and complete competing assignments with minimal supervision in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment\nAd hoc reporting\nPerform ad hoc projects such as quantifying and estimating costs for specific areas of OCNA to support financial projections and forecasts\nWork on special assignments as they arise\nKnowledge, Skills & QualificationsStrong knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS\nAdvanced proficiency in Excel; proficient in Word and Outlook\nStrong interpersonal skills, including the ability to direct and hold accountable third-party service providers\nSelf-directed and comfortable with ambiguity; able to build and document processes where none currently exist\nSound judgment in applying policy to payment approvals and in escalating exceptions\nStrong verbal and written communication skills\nExcellent problem solving and decision-making skills\nAble to multitask, work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines\nHigh level of attention to detail\nStrong organizational skills\nEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent\nMinimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger ownership\nExperience with manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis, is a strong plus.\nExperience managing outsourced finance as a service (FaaS) or third-party accounting service providers preferred\nExperience supporting a new business, entity, or site start-up strongly preferred\nCertified Public Accounting (CPA) a strong plus\nPublic accounting experience a plus\nExperience with ERP and cloud accounting systems a strong plus, SAP preferred\nPrior experience with an SAP implementation or ERP conversion strongly preferred\nExperience with payroll processing and systems a strong plus, ADP preferred\nMinimum QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of age\nTravel RequirementsTypically requires travel less than 5% of the time\nPhysical Requirements and Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
