This role collaborates closely with Sales, Engineering, and the Tool Room to deliver high-quality products and services on time. The position is responsible for developing progressive metal stamping tooling and providing engineering support throughout the lifecycle of customer tooling.\nThis role requires strong time management skills to produce accurate, high-quality designs under aggressive timelines while simultaneously supporting ongoing tool room projects.\nSpecifically, the Supervisor, Tool & Die Design will :\nCollaborate with customers, Design Manager, and Tool Room Manager to establish design concepts for progressive dies, compound dies, stage tooling, jigs, and fixtures that meet or exceed customer requirements.\nDesign and develop progressive metal stamping tools, trim dies, fixtures, and gages for new and existing products.\nPrepare strip layouts, plan views, bills of materials (BOMs), detail drawings, and related documentation.\nCreate wire EDM blocks, jigs, fixtures, and other components to improve tool room efficiency and productivity.\nDevelop complete tool assembly and component drawings using 3D and 2D design platforms.\nWork from engineering models, piece-part drawings, and assemblies to create accurate and manufacturable designs.\nOrder purchased components as required to support tooling builds.\nImplement engineering changes to existing designs and execute ECNs through company business systems.\nProcess engineering drawings and models through current PLM and ERP systems.\nWork directly with the tool room during the build and development of tooling to ensure designs produce parts that meet or exceed customer standards.\nProvide engineering solutions and technical support to the Sales team.\nReport project status, timelines, and risks to management on a regular basis.\nCollaborate with other designers and tool room staff to achieve high-quality results in time-sensitive situations.\nManage in-house and outsourced designers to meet on-time delivery commitments.\nWork overtime as required to meet project deadlines.\nAssists with other related duties as required or assigned. \nWhat you’ll need to bring to the table:\nMinimum of 10 years of experience as a full-time Tool Designer.\nToolmaker background strongly preferred.\nProven experience designing complete tool assemblies using solid modeling software (SolidWorks preferred).\nExperience with LogoPress (SolidWorks add-in) preferred.\nAutoCAD experience with Die Maker add-in preferred.\nExperience with PLM systems and Syteline ERP software preferred.\nStrong understanding of progressive metal stamping processes and tooling.\nExcellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills.\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative manufacturing environment.\nOccasional travel to customer sites required.\nWhat OTTO offers for this specific position:\nThe hiring range listed in this posting is what we, in good faith, anticipate relying on when confirming an hourly rate for this position; exceptions may be considered for highly experienced candidates with multiple years of at-level experience.\nTarget hourly hiring range: $45.00 to $65.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.\nProfit Sharing Bonus - OTTO believes that it’s fair to share the profits that the employees help to make; profit sharing is distributed to employees twice a year.
