General Summary
Under general supervision,providespreventative and health care to an assigned group of patients or clients in the OU Health facility.
Essential Responsibilities

Assistswith the nursing assessment through data collection, observation, and obtainment of vital signs on assigned patients or clients.
Providescare according to an established nursing plan.
Observeschanges inpatient’scondition and notify supervisory personnel if significant changes occur.
Providesroutine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding and placement,anddiscontinuingoforal-gastrictube. Initiatesand monitorsoxygen therapy according to physician orders or unitprotocol.
Suctionsand cleanstracheotomy sites.
May administer oral, intravenous, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, subcutaneous, sub-lingual, vaginal, rectal,and topical medications.
Preparespatients for routine physical examinations andassistthe physician during examinations.
An LPN can function in the role of Surgical Tech if position open is in the operating room.
GeneralResponsibilities

Education Requirements
HS Diploma or GEDrequired.
Completion of education requirements for NCLEX-PN examination.
Experience Requirements
No experiencerequired.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements
Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Associationrequiredupon hire.
Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing OR a current multistate LPN License (eNLC)required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to organize, coordinate, plan, and evaluatenursingneeds of assigned patients.
Must be knowledgeable aboutoperatingroom techniquesifapplying for a surgery position.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
