This includes battery cell development and qualification, assembly automation development and line bring-up, cell-to-pack integration into OURA’s ring form factors, new supplier bring up, and process technology R&D. \nThis is a hybrid role, the candidate should be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to come into the San Francisco office 2-3 days per week.\nWhat you will do: \nDefine best-in-class battery cell, assembly, and integration processes to meet all OURA design, safety, and operational requirements\nPartner with Battery/Electrical Engineers, Quality Engineers, Material Engineers, and Product Designers to optimize cell design and manufacturing processes for energy density, cost, cosmetics, and reliability\nIdentify, research, develop, and qualify battery cell suppliers, pack assemblers, and automation equipment manufacturers in support of OURA’s hardware development goals\nLead new battery assembly line and automation bring-up - from equipment specification and buy-off through installation qualification and production ramp\nDrive suppliers globally to establish and optimize battery cell fabrication, assembly, and pack-integration processes, ensuring best-in-class quality & resolving production issues\nUse data to drive process decisions and influence product and industrial design, including cell dimensions, capacity, tolerances and specifications\nRequirements\nWe would love to have you on our team if you have:\n3+ years of direct experience working in a battery or electromechanical manufacturing environment as a Supplier Development Engineer, Supply Base Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Cell/Battery Process Engineer, Supplier Industrialization Engineer or equivalent role\nExperience with lithium-ion / lithium-polymer cell design, fabrication, and/or battery pack assembly and integration\nExperience working with global suppliers to establish & qualify manufacturing processes from NPI to Mass Production\nExperience bringing up and qualifying automated battery assembly lines and manufacturing equipment\nAbility to analyze failure modes and identify process or design root causes\nFamiliarity with battery safety and regulatory standards (e.g. UN38.3, IEC 62133, UL 1642/2054) a plus\nExcellent critical thinking and problem solving skills\nEffectively communicate challenges to leadership and cross-functional partners\nAbility to travel internationally, up to 15% of the time\nBenefits \nAt Oura, we care about you and your well-being.
