Role Overview: This is a hands-on QA leadership role for a SaaS software, combining general test management with personal, day-to-day use of AI tools to build and run testing at pace. You will own QA planning, coverage and process for our product, while also personally using AI tools to generate test cases, execute test runs, and triage and remediate failures. This is not a pure oversight or management role: you are expected to be in the tooling yourself, using AI to accelerate test creation and execution, while applying the judgement to know when AI-generated output can be trusted and when it needs to be corrected or discarded. You will work closely with engineering to lift test coverage and quality across the platform and help shape how to use AI in testing going forward. This is a contract role to start, with scope to establish and demonstrate the value of an AI-augmented approach to QA. What We’re Looking For: We are looking for a trustworthy, smart and enthusiastic person with a very strong command of English and a personality that thrives on interacting with customers as well as problem solving. A suitable candidate must be able to demonstrate a willingness to proactively solve problems and to respond positively to customer enquiries. A good understanding of Shopify would be helpful but is not essential. Training will be provided. A key area of accountability of this role is customer support, from first contact through to resolution. Adjacent ecommerce and administrative tasks are included and will be trained. Requirements We’re looking for someone who is: Genuinely hands-on - someone who wants to be building and running tests, not just managing a process Curious and pragmatic about AI tools, with the judgement to know when to trust them and when not to Structured and methodical, with strong attention to detail Comfortable owning quality outcomes for a live SaaS product with real customers A clear communicator who can explain quality risk and test coverage to technical and non-technical audiences alike Self-directed and comfortable establishing practices in a role that is new to the organisation Essential requirements: 5+ years of experience in QA and test management for software products, including test strategy and planning Demonstrated hands-on experience using AI tools to generate test cases, test scripts or test data Practical experience executing and maintaining automated and manual test suites Experience triaging test failures and working with engineering through to resolution Strong understanding of testing across the SDLC - functional, regression, exploratory and UAT Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated output for accuracy and coverage rather than accepting it at face value Experience defining and reporting on quality metrics Strong written and verbal communication skills Desirable requirements: Experience testing SaaS products Exposure to telco, BSS/OSS or managed service provider environments Experience introducing or piloting AI-assisted testing tools or practices within a team Familiarity with API testing and integration patterns such as event-driven communication Experience establishing QA practices from scratch or in a growing product team What You’ll Be Working On: Own QA and test management for a SaaS software, including test strategy, planning and coverage across releases Personally use AI tools to generate test cases and test scripts from requirements, user stories and existing product behaviour Personally execute test runs - functional, regression and exploratory - using a mix of AI-assisted and manual techniques Triage test failures, distinguishing genuine defects from flaky tests or environment issues, and drive remediation with engineering Critically review all AI-generated test cases, scripts and results for accuracy, relevance and coverage before they are relied upon Maintain and evolve the test suite, retiring redundant tests and closing coverage gaps as the product changes Define and track quality metrics - coverage, defect rates, escape rates - and report on product quality to engineering leadership Coordinate UAT planning and execution with Product and Delivery and client stakeholders Establish and document QA processes, standards and ways of working, including practical guidelines for using AI tools responsibly in testing Identify opportunities to expand AI-assisted testing into new areas of the product, and pilot new tools or techniques Work with engineering to address root causes of recurring defects, not just individual failures Escalate quality risks that threaten a release, with clear evidence and recommended action Ready to take your career to the next level?
