We are collecting candidate interest for future openings once we move forward with this position.\nAbout the Role\nWe anticipate hiring a Design Lead who will own the entire Outlive product experience end-to-end. This is a foundational design role, very hands-on, deeply craft-driven, and essential to shaping the future of Medicine 3.0 in digital form.\nThis is not a “brand designer” or a design manager who floats above the work. This is the person who creates the work.\nThis role exists because:\nOutlive requires a designer who can translate extremely complex medical, behavioral, and scientific concepts into intuitive, elegant user experiences.\nWe need a design leader who can shape visual systems, interaction patterns, and the emotional journey of the user - across iOS, web, and future surfaces.\nOur founders operate with high abstraction and rapid ideation; we need someone who can take abstract feedback (“this feels flat,” “this should feel more meaningful”) and turn it into precise, beautiful design decisions.\nAs a zero-to-one product, Outlive needs someone who can build a design system from scratch, collaborate closely with engineering, and establish a design culture that sets the bar for years to come.\nYou will define the visual and interaction language of Outlive and build the systems that allow it to scale.\nThis is your canvas.\nHow the Role Will Evolve\nBuild (first 90 days)\nAbsorb the existing Figma files, product flows, and scientific frameworks.\nExtend Outlive’s design language including typography, color, spacing, motion, and interaction philosophy.\nRebuild early designs as needed to meet a premium aesthetic and usability bar.\nOperate (post-launch readiness)\nShip weekly product design across features, modules, and surfaces.\nPartner closely with Product and Engineering to scope, refine, and deliver features.\nCreate intuitive, behaviorally-aware flows that bring Medicine 3.0 to life.\nMaintain high-quality handoff, documentation, and interaction fidelity.\nScale & Reiterate (ongoing)\nBuild the rituals and standards that define Outlive’s design culture.\nCollaborate with scientific advisors to convert insights into UI and interactions.\nParticipate in roadmap development and contribute to product strategic direction.\nEventually help hire and mentor future designers as the team expands.\nWhat You’ll Do\nProduct Design Leadership\nDefine the end-to-end experience of the Outlive app.\nTranslate complex medical and behavioral frameworks into intuitive UX flows.\nLead design sprints, explorations, and high-fidelity execution.\nDrive clarity, simplicity, and science-backed behavior design across the product.\nVisual & Interaction Design\nBuild and evolve Outlive’s UX and visual identity across platforms.\nOwn typography, layout, hierarchy, motion, color, iconography, and spatial rules.\nCreate calm, premium, modern interfaces that feel inevitable and intentional.\nEnsure accessibility, readability, and long-term usability.\nDesign System Ownership\nBuild the Outlive Design System from day one.\nCreate components, patterns, tokens, and motion libraries.\nMaintain clear documentation for product, engineering, and content partners.Ensure consistency and scalability across features and screens.\n\nCross-Functional Partnership\nWork closely with the Product Team, CEO, and engineering leaders.\nCollaborate with scientific advisors and behavioral experts to integrate insights.\nParticipate in product roadmap discussions, prioritization, and strategic decisions.\nInfluence engineering workflows through clear documentation, prototypes, and collaboration.\nDesign Culture & Leadership\nSet and maintain an exceptionally high craft bar.\nBuild rituals: critiques, reviews, prototyping cycles, and design standups.\nHelp hire and mentor future designers as we scale.\nAdvocate for design excellence across the organization.\nYou’re likely a strong fit if you have:\n7+ years of product design experience, including 3+ years in a senior or lead role\nMastery of product, visual, and interaction design\nA portfolio demonstrating world-class taste, systems thinking, and depth\nExperience owning a zero-to-one or core consumer product end-to-end\nDeep expertise in Figma and advanced prototyping\nAbility to translate abstract founder feedback into concrete solutions\nComfort in fast, iterative, founder-led environments\nStrong communication and storytelling skills\nDeep intuition for simplicity, clarity, and behavior design\nAbility to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, science, and content\nNice-to-haves:\nExperience designing in health, wellness, longevity, or behavior change domains\nExperience simplifying complex data, diagnostics, or scientific concepts\nAbility to contribute to marketing creative, brand work, or motion design\nFluency in advanced iOS interaction patterns and motion systems\nFamiliarity with AI design workflows (e.g., rapid exploration, pattern generation)\nHow You Work\nYou will thrive at Outlive if you:\nTreat design as craft, system, and philosophy\nMove with speed, precision, and deep ownership\nUse AI as a natural extension of your thinking and execution\nCare about aesthetics, clarity, and emotional resonance\nLove translating complexity into simple, beautiful user experiences\nStay calm and creative in fast-changing environments\nHave low ego, high standards, and a founder-adjacent mindset\nWant to build something meaningful, useful, and lasting\nAs part of our hiring process, candidates complete a personality and cognitive assessment.
