To check out and assist customers while meeting objectives for accuracy and speed.\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast paced retail floor and cash office environment with moderate to loud noises (i.e. computers, paging, telephones, human voices, and equipment). Work near moving mechanical parts (i.e. register belt). Position requires working during busy retail times, which include weekends, afternoons, and evenings.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:\n1. Customer Service\nTreat people fairly, consistently, and with respect.\nEnsure efficient, informative, and friendly service according to established customer service vision and standards.\n2. Front End Department Responsibilities\nCheck out customer’s purchases quickly and accurately, using correct prices, codes and departments.\nEnsure 100% cash register accuracy and ensure all payment transactions are completed with efficiency and precision.\nBag groceries and ask customers if they need any further assistance. \nEnd the customer transaction with a pleasant farewell such as “thank you for shopping at Outpost” or “have a nice day.”\nCall for back up on registers when needed.\nBecome familiar with co-op policies and products in order to answer customer questions. Refer unresolved questions or problems to front end manager, supervisory staff, or customer service.\nBe familiar with Outpost’s owner policy to answer owner related questions. Refer customers interested in joining the co-op to the customer service desk.\nFollow proper procedures in balancing cash drawer at end of shift.\nFollow security procedures in handling drawers, pick-ups, potential shoplifters, and quick change artists.\nMaintain front end area in a clean, organized, and orderly condition.\nClean register and put shop backs away at end of shift.\nAdvise front end manager of equipment/ replacement needs.\nDuring slow times, take initiative to stock items or ask for assignments from the front end manager or supervisory staff.\nAttend department meetings as scheduled.\n\n3.
