Outpost Games is a video game development studio founded in 2014 by industry veterans from Electronic Arts and Zynga. The company focuses on creating interactive multiplayer experiences and platform technology designed to make video games as fun to watch as they are to play. Backed by prominent venture capital firms like Benchmark, the studio is best known for pioneer projects like SOS, which turn players into performers and viewers into active participants.

Executive Vice President, Marketing

Location: Playa Vista, California (in-person, five days per week)

The return lane isn’t going to build itself. Come build it with us.

Outpost is an orbital logistics company rewriting the rules of global logistics by building reusable Earth-return vehicles that unlock in-space manufacturing, on-orbit warehousing, and 60-minute global delivery through space.

Our CarryAll vehicle family returns payloads ranging from 200 kilograms to 10 metric tons, lands within 10 meters of its target, and can then be refurbished and launched again. One vehicle, many missions: responsive logistics and precision delivery for national security; commercial cargo moved with real cadence; R&D payloads flown, tested, and refined across repeatable cycles; and critical aid delivered where roads and runways can’t reach.

The demand is already here, validated through defense and civil agreements and supported by a growing pipeline of government and commercial customers.

We have the customers, the team, and a clear technical path ahead of us. We’re building the return lane. Come build it with us

The Opportunity

Outpost is seeking a senior marketing executive to convert this momentum into a sophisticated, repeatable market-engagement engine. Reporting to the President, this leader will steward and activate the refreshed brand while shaping how Outpost is understood and experienced across commercial, civil, national security, investor, partner, media, and talent audiences.

The role centers on translating company strategy into sustained market engagement: relationship strategy, customer marketing across long and complex business development paths, integrated event and communications cycles, news and announcement planning, executive visibility, and disciplined marketing operations. It also requires independent leadership - setting direction, initiating work with limited executive prompting, establishing clear priorities and accountability, and building the systems and team required for consistent execution. You will partner closely with executive leadership and leaders across engineering, programs, business development, government sales, operations, and recruiting.

What You Will Own

  • Set the company-wide marketing strategy across commercial, civil, and national security priorities, and convert it into annual and quarterly operating plans, budgets, resource plans, metrics, and a clear executive reporting cadence.
  • Steward and activate Outpost’s refreshed brand, positioning, messaging, and visual standards. Drive consistent adoption across the company and evolve the platform deliberately as business and market needs develop.
  • Build a relationship-marketing strategy that maps priority customers, partners, influencers, and stakeholders across complex, multi-year business development paths, with clear engagement objectives, touchpoints, content, and ownership.
  • Lead customer and product marketing across commercial, civil, and national security offerings, equipping business development and executive teams with tailored narratives, collateral, case studies, campaigns, and account-specific support.
  • Own an integrated communications and news cycle spanning company announcements, media engagement, executive communications, thought leadership, digital and social channels, and content - sequencing each moment to build credibility and sustained momentum.
  • Define and lead the annual event cycle across industry conferences, customer engagements, demonstrations, product launches, recruiting events, and other external moments. Set audience objectives, relationship outcomes, measures of success, and disciplined follow-up.
  • Translate complex technical products, programs, and mission concepts into clear, credible narratives for technical, commercial, civil, government, investor, and public audiences.
  • Build the marketing operating system: roadmaps, calendars, decision rights, workflows, briefs, reviews, measurement, and accountability. Ensure commitments are completed on time and to a consistently high standard.
  • Build, organize, and lead a high-performing marketing team. Establish clear roles and decision authority; delegate effectively; provide mentorship, regular feedback, and direct accountability; and manage agencies, vendors, budgets, and resource allocation with discipline.
  • Serve as a proactive executive partner on company positioning, strategic relationships, business development, fundraising, recruiting, reputation management, and major corporate milestones. Anticipate needs and bring leadership well-developed recommendations and solutions rather than waiting for direction

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive marketing experience, including at least 5 years leading a multidisciplinary marketing or communications organization at the vice president or executive level.
  • A record of building or scaling marketing functions in high-growth aerospace, space infrastructure, robotics, advanced manufacturing, transportation, logistics, or other deep-technology companies serving complex technical customers.
  • Demonstrated success as both a strategic leader and a hands-on operator, including the ability to lead effectively without a large team or mature infrastructure.
  • Deep capability across brand stewardship, positioning, product and customer marketing, relationship marketing, corporate communications, public relations, content and digital marketing, event strategy, and executive communications.
  • Exceptional ability to understand complex technical systems, long customer-development cycles, and multi-stakeholder buying environments, and convert them into precise, compelling narratives and engagement strategies without sacrificing credibility.
  • Strong organizational leadership: planning, prioritization, budget and resource management, operating cadence, performance measurement, delegation, coaching, and accountability.
  • Executive presence and judgment, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills and experience advising senior leaders and engaging investors, customers, partners, and media.
  • A low-ego, high-accountability leadership style; comfort operating at speed, making decisions with incomplete information, and adapting as company priorities evolve.
  • Willingness to work in person at Outpost’s Playa Vista headquarters five days per week.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience marketing across multiple customer types, such as commercial enterprises, civil space agencies, U.S. government or defense organizations, or regulated industrial markets.
  • Experience supporting complex, relationship-driven business development, strategic partnerships, or long customer acquisition cycles.
  • Experience orchestrating major events, announcement programs, media cycles, executive thought leadership, fundraising, or investor communications.
  • Established relationships with aerospace, technology, business, and relevant trade media, and experience creating a category around a technically complex physical product or platform

Compensation:

  • Competitive compensation: $245,000 - $300,000; (commensurate with experience).
  • Additional Compensation:  Annual performance-based bonuses that reward your impact.
  • Shared upside: Meaningful equity in Outpost so you share directly in the value you help create.
  • Comprehensive healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision coverage to keep you and your loved ones covered. We cover the base tier of medical insurance and all premiums of vision and dental.
  • Protection when it matters: Company-provided short- and long-term disability coverage for peace of mind, plus life insurance for even more security.
  • PTO: Recharge on your own terms with paid time off, plus 9 days of paid holidays.
  • Invest in your future: 401(k) with company match to help you build long-term wealth.
  • Fueled for the mission: Daily DoorDash lunch stipend, plus unlimited snacks, coffee, and tea to keep you energized.
  • Mission that matters: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with leaders from aerospace, new space, and deep-tech industries building the future of orbital infrastructure.
  • Pet Friendly Office: Bring your furry friend into the office so that they can be a part of our mission too.
  • Monthly Company Happy Hours and Events: Drinks at the local bar, hibachi nights, mini golfing and more!

You must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 ,or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S.
