They're the connective tissue between Editorial and Product/Engineering, from bug triage to feature testing to documenting the fixes.\nThis is a hands-on, detail-driven role for someone who knows WordPress inside and out, has a sharp eye for UX, and thrives owning ambiguity in a fast-moving editorial environment.\nResponsibilities:\nBuild story pages, drawing from print and digital editorial sources\nSource and crop stock photos, format and add alt text/captions to writer-submitted photos, commission art and photos occasionally\nBug Tracking & Resolution: Participate in bug triage, serving as the liaison between editors and product/engineering to identify critical issues on production sites impacting editors\nCollaboration with Engineering: Partner with engineering to test new features or bug fixes within WordPress and associated content sites, providing clear documentation with steps to reproduce\nStrong written, verbal, and video communication skills; works well across diverse teams\nMaintain SOT production resources to aid editorial staff and freelance producers; work with Engineering to integrate new features and communicate new standards across verticals\nPrioritize tasks and find workflow efficiencies\nOwn SEO/GEO best practices on-page, staying current on how AI overviews and answer engines are reshaping search visibility\nDeep understanding of UX, with the ability to translate best practices into on-page experiences\nDetail-oriented and thorough in checking work before publication\nWithin 1 month, you will: \nOnboard with Editorial, Video, and Audience Development teams to understand current workflows\nEstablish working relationships with production partners to ensure smooth operations and deadline compliance\nBuild story pages daily, drawing from print and digital editorial sources\nSource and crop stock photos, format and add alt text/captions to writer-submitted photos, commission art and photos occasionally\nPrioritize tasks and find workflow efficiencies\nWithin 3 months, you will: \nMaintain SOT production resources; work with Engineering to integrate new features and communicate new standards across verticals\nParticipate in bug triage as liaison between editors and product/engineering\nPartner with engineering to test new features/fixes and document steps to reproduce issues\nWithin 6 months, you will: \nPartner with the product team on comprehensive site updates across the Outside Inc. network\nWhat you bring:\n5+ years proven experience in digital production for high-volume print and digital media\nStrong written, verbal, and video communication skills\nWorks well across diverse teams\nDeep understanding of UX, with the ability to translate best practices into on-page experiences\nClose attention to detail and ability to QC work before publication\nExpert proficiency in WordPress, Canva, Asana, Google Workspace; affiliate platform experience a plus\nStrong SEO/GEO judgment, including a working understanding of how AI overviews and answer-engine results are changing search visibility\nAbility to work cross-functionally with Video, Product, and Audience Development teams\nWhat We Offer:\nThis is a fully remote role, and we welcome applicants based anywhere in the United States or Canada.
