client, a leading organisation in the retail sector, is seeking an experienced Data Steward to support data governance, data quality and effective data management across the business.\n\nThe successful candidate will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, consistent, reliable and aligned with established governance standards.\n\nDuties & Responsibilities\n\n Support the implementation and maintenance of data governance frameworks, policies and standards.\n\n Monitor and improve data quality, integrity and consistency across business systems.\n\n Identify, investigate and resolve data quality issues.\n\n Maintain data definitions, business glossaries and metadata documentation.\n\n Collaborate with business stakeholders, data owners and technical teams.\n\n Support master data management (MDM) and data lifecycle processes.\n\n Ensure compliance with internal data governance and regulatory requirements.\n\nDesired Experience & Qualification\n\n Relevant qualification in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.\n\n Proven experience in data stewardship, data governance or data quality management.\n\n Strong understanding of data governance principles, metadata management and master data management.\n\n Working knowledge of SQL and data profiling techniques.\n\n Experience working with data governance or data quality tools would be advantageous.\n\n Exposure to retail, FMCG or large enterprise data environments would be advantageous.\n\n Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.\n\n Ability to work onsite in Cape Town
