This is a hands-on role perfect for an ambitious engineer who is passionate about taking raw data through the entire lifecycle, from scraping and wrangling to production-ready, trained models.\nThis role is remote-friendly, with a preference for candidates who can spend occasional time onsite in Hood River, OR.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nMLOps and Training InfrastructureDesign and improve training pipelines to support faster, continuous model iteration \nEnable scalable experimentation across datasets, model architectures, and training strategies \nImprove reproducibility, experiment tracking, and comparison of training runs \n\nData Pipelines and Dataset QualityBuild and refine workflows for:Data indexing, curation, and preprocessing\nLabel quality validation and dataset management\nData exploration for targeted labeling\n\nDevelop evaluation and tests that reflect real-world operating conditions\nImprove synthetic data workflows to support targeted model improvement\n\nModel Development and ExperimentationTrain, evaluate, and iterate on computer vision models for:Detection, segmentation, classification, tracking\nTransformer and multi-modal architectures where appropriate\n\nContinuously explore and evaluate:new model families and research directions\nDomain-specific optimizations for aerial imagery, small-object detection\n\nIncorporate multi-modal inputs including:Multiple image bands\nPlatform and sensor metadata (range, angles, telemetry, etc.)\n\nEdge deployment and OptimizationOptimize models for deployment on embedded GPU platforms like Nvidia Jetson\nBalance accuracy, latency, and resource constraints for real-world, real-time workflows\n\nWhat You’ll Bring\nCore Experience\n5+ years of experience in machine learning, with a focus on computer vision\nB.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience\nHands-on experience building and improving computer vision or perception modelsin production or real-world systems, especially for object detection, object tracking\nStrong understanding of model evaluation, including selecting metrics, building test sets, analyzing false positives/false negatives, and measuring performance over timefor iterative improvement\nTechnical Skills\nExperience with PyTorch or Tensorflow\nStrong understanding of modern computer vision architectures:CNNs, transformers (ViTs), and/or multi-model models\nOpenCV, NumPy, or similar\n\nExperience building training and data pipelines for medium to large scale datasets\nStrong python skills and solid software engineering fundamentals\nBonus\nAerial imagery, geospatial data, or remote sensing\nPhotogrammetry\nMulti-modal learning systems\nFamiliarity with state estimation and tracking methods (Kalman Filters, DeepSORT, ByteTrack, etc)\nExperience with performance languages (C++or similar)\nModel deployment onto Nvidia Jetson based edge hardware\nWhat We Offer:\nGrowth Opportunities: As a team member of a true startup, you will learn by doing and shape our future.
