We offer real-time nanopore-based DNA/RNA sequencing technology: accessible, easy to use and fully scalable for any requirement.\nSummary\nDesign, build, test and maintain reliable software across our customer platform ecosystem.\nDevelop and maintain APIs, integrations and services connecting customer-facing applications with platforms such as Salesforce and Dynamics 365.\nHelp modernise legacy applications and progressively reduce technical debt and unnecessary complexity.\nBuild secure, scalable and maintainable solutions using appropriate engineering patterns and standards.\nKey Responsibilities:\nWork closely with Product Owners, UX, architects and other engineers to turn customer and business needs into working software.\nContribute to technical design and architecture discussions, challenging solutions constructively where there is a better approach.\nImprove automated testing, deployment, monitoring and observability.\nDiagnose and resolve production issues, identifying root causes rather than simply treating symptoms.\nParticipate in code reviews and help maintain high engineering standards across the team.\nContribute to continuous improvement in our development practices, tooling and ways of working.\nShare knowledge and support other engineers across the team.\nQualifications/Experience:\nStrong commercial software development experience using Python\nExperience building modern web applications, backend services and/or APIs.\nGood understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns and maintainable code.\nExperience working with REST APIs and integrating multiple systems.\nExperience with relational databases and SQL.\nFamiliarity with cloud-based application architectures.\nExperience with automated testing and CI/CD.\nUnderstanding of application security, performance and observability.\nExperience working with Git and modern development workflows.\nConfidence working in an environment containing both modern and legacy technologies.\nA pragmatic approach to balancing technical quality, customer value and delivery.\nNice to have\nExperience in any of the following would be useful, but isn’t essential:\nRuby / Ruby on Rails\nJavaScript / TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks\nAWS\nSalesforce integrations\nMicrosoft Dynamics 365 integrations\nIdentity, authentication and customer account platforms\nIntegration platforms and event-driven architectures\nEcommerce or complex transactional platforms\nModernising or decomposing legacy applications\nPlease note that no terminology in this advert is intended to discriminate on the grounds of a person's gender, marital status, race, religion, colour, age, disability or sexual orientation.
