We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Crude Settlement Accountant based in Houston, TX.\nReporting to the Marketing Settlements Supervisor, the Crude Settlement Accountant is responsible for monthly customer settlements, monthly close process managed and supported.\nThe following are job duties expected of the Settlement Accountant:\nMonthly settlement of commodity purchases and sales with internal and external customers, including resolving discrepancies timely through review of contracts and volume actualization support.\nResearch and analyze aged balances to clear open variances for AR and AP for assigned settlements. This includes reconciling pipeline volumes, truck ticket details, and run statements to internal and external support.\nClearly document and support recommendations for write-offs.\nPrepare monthly journal vouchers related to AR, AP, cash, broker and prepaid accounts\nPrepare monthly account reconciliations for AR, AP, Cash, broker, and prepaid accounts, ensuring that reconciling items are addressed timely.\nCollaborate with volumes team, front office and settlements team to identify process improvements.\nCreate desk procedures and proactively assist in training backups for primary duties.\nOther duties, as assigned and required. \nQualifications:\nBachelor's Degree in accounting or finance\nEnergy Marketing industry experience (4+ years, minimum of 3 years in Crude Oil)\nSome market knowledge of oil lease\nExperience working in a trading system, Horizon experience a plus.\nAbility to communicate in a professional manner and establish effective working relationships with internal operations and external customers\nTeam-oriented spirit who displays a willingness to help others\nCapacity to maintain an optimistic and positive attitude\nMotivated, self-directed and results-driven approach to work, also takes ownership of assigned tasks\nAbility to research and prepare analysis to respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely, professional and thorough manner\nCreative thinker who can identify processes for continuous process improvement opportunities\nAbility to anticipate issues and how they impact the team or other stakeholders, and act on them in advance\nAbility to learn quickly and adapt and manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing dynamic environment\nEmploy fundamental accounting skills: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and account reconciliations\nStrong working proficiency and intermediate knowledge in Excel, i.e. mining/manipulating data.\nInitiative to consistently meet internal and external deadlines\nOvertime will be required during critical times.\nRecruitment Fraud\nIt has come to our attention various individuals and/or organizations are contacting people falsely pretending to recruit on behalf of Oxy.
